Summary

Netflix’sLeague of Legendsseries,Arcane, took the world by storm in 2021 witha fantastic first Seasonthat honored longtime LoL players while being comprehensive enough to attract new fans unfamiliar with the game. While Season Two has unfortunately been confirmed to be the show’sfinal Season, thankfully, the creators have confirmed that other projects set in Arcane’s world are on the way.

Though Arcane’s second and final Season marks the end of Vi and Jinx’s story and the conflict between Piltover & Zaun (for now),League of Legends' world of Runeterra contains over adozen other regions, over a hundred Champions, and thousands of years of lore. Some may even come into possession of unimaginable powers and knowledge of the universe.

If Targon is to be introduced in the near future, one way could be through the eyes of one of itsChampions,Taric, following his journey of redemption from disgraced exile to celestial host and protector of the world.

Princess Qiyana From League Of Legends In Front Of Ixtal.

9Ixtal

This Ancient Civilisation Is Steeped In Magic

Long isolated from the outside world within the jungles east of Shurima, Ixtal is an ancient civilization known for its mastery of elemental magic. The nation is now at risk as potential threats, like Noxus, have attempted to cross their borders. In addition, Qiyana, the youngest and most ambitious member of the royal family, seeks to prove herself as Ixtal’s rightful ruler by defending her nation through questionable means.

A project about Ixtal could focus on the nation’s different reactions to the growing possibility of exposure and the conflicts that arise from Qiyana’s lust for power.

Irelia From League Of Legends In Front Of Ionia.

8Ionia

A Nation Divided

The nexus of balance between the physical and spiritual worlds, the beautiful and magical islands of Ionia were peaceful and neutral to the conflicts of the world until they were invaded by the empire of Noxus. Since then, the people of Ionia have become increasingly more divided over whether they should return to their original ways of life or unite and take vengeance against their invaders.

Ionia could be the focus of several Seasons, showing the different factions andChampionsas they deal with the aftermath of Noxus' invasion and decide on Ionia’s future.

Miss Fortune From League Of Legends In Front Of Bilgewater.

7Bilgewater

A Pirate Tale Waiting To Be Told

Bilgewater is a pirate haven where chaos rules the day and sea monsters rule the waters. A port city free of laws and populated with criminals, there’s danger around every corner and the only semblance of authority are the local crime lords to beg favor from. The current Reaver King of Bilgewater is a bounty hunter named Miss Fortune, who overthrew her lifelong nemesis,Gangplank, and took his throne.

Miss Fortune’s vendetta against Gangplank, her rise to power in Bilgewater, Gangplank’s quest for revenge against Miss Fortune, and their subsequent gang war has enough story potential for multiple Seasons.

Emperor Azir From League Of Legends In Front Of Shurima.

6Shurima

A Lost City Returns

The Shuriman desert once held a glorious city and a thriving empire. After its Emperor, Azir, was betrayed and its capital destroyed, the empire dissolved into myth as the world changed. Now, Shurima is populated by nomadic tribes raised on the harsh life the desert provides. But after a millennia, the Emperor Azir has resurrected, raising Shurima’s lost city from beneath the sands, and seeks to restore it to its former glory.

The restoration of Shurima, andthe war between godsthat ensues, would make for an epic story to see adapted in Arcane’s world.

King Viego From League Of Legends In Front Of The Shadow Isles.

5The Shadow Isles

A once beautiful utopia known as The Blessed Isles, a grieving King Viego tried to bring his Queen Isolde back to life but caused a magical catastrophe that reshaped the islands and twisted its citizens, turning his kingdom into a source for the undead.

A thousand years later, The Shadow Isles is shrouded in a continuously expanding Black Mist and an army of undead nightmares under the command of the still grieving Ruined King, Viego.

Kai’Sa From League Of Legends In Front Of The Void.

The Shadow Isles represent an ever present and near unstoppable threat to Runeterra, and it would be great to see it adapted in the future.

4The Void

An Ever Present Threat

The unknowable nothingness that lies beyond, the Void is a mysterious, terrifying dimension that consumes everything in its path. The Void invaded Runeterra long ago, but failed. Now itsdenizensprepare for the return of their masters, the Watchers, so they may destroy all of Runeterra.

Champions like Kassadin and Kai’Sa have personal stakes in fighting back the Void. Kassadin seeks revenge after his family was destroyed by it, and Kai’Sa survived in the Void for years before returning. The Void represents a threat that all of Runeterra would have to unite against if they hope to defeat it.

Katarina And Garen From League Of Legends In Front Of Noxus And Demacia.

3Demacia & Noxus

A Bitter Rivalry Turns Towards War

Noxus is an expansionist empire that values strength above all else, while Demacia is a kingdom built on philosophies of order and honor. The conflict between these two nations has shaped the continent of Valoran for centuries, and now their rivalry might finally be coming to a boil.

A developing war between Demacia & Noxus could lead to ramifications across Runeterra, and the individual stories of each nation’s Champions would add layers to the overarching conflict. Examples could be the relationship between Garen, a Demacian soldier, and Katarina, a Noxian assassin, as well as Lux growing to accept her magical abilities.

Ashe From League Of Legends In Front Of Freljord.

2Freljord

A Civil War In A Brutal Snowscape

The Freljord is a brutal snowscape where people are raised to be warriors and only the strong survive. Freljord is currently in the midst of a civil war between three tribes, each led by a powerful Champion.

Ashe, the Frost Archer, leads the Avarosan, promoting unity and peace. Sejuani leads the Winter’s Claw, a warrior tribe who believe in honoring the traditions of old for survival. Lissandra, a sorceress, leads the Frostguard, secretly preparing for the return of the Watchers, ancient, malevolent beings imprisoned beneath the ice.

An Army Attacking Invaders From The Void On The Left And A Man Overlooking The Destruction Of A City On The Right From League Of Legends.

Freljord’s civil war and the relationships between its three leaders would be a great successor to Arcane’s story.

1Runeterra’s History

The Evolution Of Core Lore

The lore of League of Legends contains thousands of years of history that could be greatly expanded on. Runeterra has been shaped by several wars, including the Titan War, War of the Three Sisters, the (First) Void War, the Great Darkin War, the Rune Wars, and the First Demacian-Noxian War.

Showing Runeterra’s evolution through the ages is a fascinating concept. Not only could prequels be made about the historic wars that ravaged the face of Runeterra, but showing the formation of its regions, like the city of Piltover, would add depth to Arcane and its upcoming spin-offs.
