The Remedy-verse is one of the best connected universes in gaming, and probably beyond that too. The moment when we found connections to Quantum Break and Alan Wake inControlopened our eyes to the studio’s master plan, and it’s been a hell of one ride since then. Now that the secret is out, direct references to Remedy’s previous titles can be expected in other games.

However, things were taken to a whole new level inAlan Wake 2’s recently launched DLC, The Lakehouse. You were probably expecting callbacks to the events of the studio’s previous games, and a whole lot of references to the Federal Bureau of Control, but the DLC seemingly features a big nod to the upcoming Control 2.

It’s All Connected

As spotted byIGN, towards the end of The Lakehouse DLC, FBC Agent Kiran Estevez will come upon a room with a lightbulb in it. Fans of Control will remember that if you pull the lightbulb’s cord three times, it transports you somewhere, but Estevez is taken some place quite familiar.

Spoilers for Alan Wake 2: The Lake House ahead.

The FCB agent winds up in the Oceanview Motel, a Place of Power which acts as a sort of nexus between various places and dimensions (or Thresholds) in the Remedy-Verse. It has previously featured in Control as well as Alan Wake 2. However, this time it’s a bit different, as Estevez walks through the hallway to reach the Panopticon – the place where the FBC stores Altered Items and Objects of Power.

What’s weird about this, other than the dimensional doors, is that the Panopticon is supposed to be in The Oldest Hose, the headquarters of the FBC in New York. She eventually comes upon a man imprisoned in a glass cell, who is none other than Dylan Faden, the brother of Control protagonist Jesse Faden.

Estevez tries to ask Dylan what’s going on, but his answers are too cryptic to fully understand. He gives us a glimpse of the events that might unfold in Control 2.

Aside from that, The Lakehouse also features smaller references that are filled with lore. At some point you’ll come across a document that mentions two websites. It turns out they’re real and each contain a bunch of lore about the Remedy-verse.

WHERE TO PLAY

Alan Wake 2 is the sequel to Remedy’s hit survival horror game. It blends two separate stories into one, following FBI agent Saga Anderson as she investigates both a series of brutal murders and a story written by Wake himself.
