Trying out various characters in every region inGenshin Impacthas always been one of the main appeals of the game. The land of Fontaine has its share of DPS, support, and healing units. Your team building will also depend on a few factors, including the weapons they wield and the skills and abilities in their kit.

The Hydro Element remains the main focus of Fontaine, but you will find no shortage of characters possessing different elemental visions. From the self-sufficient Neuvillete to the versatile Furina, this list will rank them all depending on their usability, playstyle and overall contribution to any team.

Lynette from Genshin Impact stirring a cup of tea.

13Lynette

Lynetteis a four-star Anemo support character, which means that you will be relying on her Swirl reactions. Her Elemental Burst is useful in infusing Anemo with other elements, so you can use her in a variety of teams.

Lynette’s Elemental Skill has a very long cooldown time, and waiting for it to charge during battles will sometimes be a nuisance. While she can heal herself, she also loses a lot of health when using her skill, so she can be a bit harder to use, especially for players who are new to the game.

A close up of Freminet during a battle with a flash of light behind him.

12Freminet

If you like to perform Cryo reactions,Freminetis an excellent choice, considering his Elemental Skill will keep your opponents frozen in place. You will be able to deal a lot of damage relying on them alone. He works well with characters that apply Hydro or Electro on enemies continuously.

However, using his Elemental Skill to its maximum potential could be a little tricky, considering it only lasts a few seconds. You have to rely on his Elemental Burst a lot more to prevent interruption while you are trying to build up some Pressure Levels.

Chevreuse from Genshin Impact holding a polearm.

11Chevreuse

Chevreuse’s Vanguard’s Coordinated Tactics can be used to make your enemies more vulnerable to Pyro and Electro damage with her passive talent. However, there is a slight catch and this passive talent can only be used when your team consists of only Pyro or Electro characters.

You also need to do a lot of overload reactions to lower the enemies' resistance. However, that shouldn’t be a problem in any of Chevreuse’s ideal team compositions. She is an excellent support unit, considering that she also increases the attack of your team.

Custom Splash Art of Charlotte from Genshin Impact.

10Charlotte

Charlotteis one of the few Cryo Catalysts that are a part of the game’s roster. If you have some good Hydro applicators on your team, you can do some constant freeze reactions with just her normal and charged attacks, rendering your adversaries completely immobile.

While her Elemental Skill has a long cooldown, it’s still a helpful skill that you’re able to use to deal continuous Cryo damage to multiple enemies by targeting them. Charlotte is a decent support and healing character, even if her overall damaging capabilities are a bit lacking.

Emilie posing for a photo in Genshin Impact.

9Emilie

Emilieis a Dendro Polearm user that works well with your Pyro characters. However, you need to trigger Burning reactions repeatedly to increase her Elemental Skill damage a lot more. Her Lumidouce Case stays on the field for a good amount of time, so a long skill cooldown isn’t a problem in her case.

Her Elemental Burst is just a stronger version of her Elemental Skill, and there really isn’t much to her kit, except she is definitely a must-use in any burning team. She also increases your party’s Pyro resistance with her passive talent.

Chiori posing with her twin blades to look like scissors in her Elemental Burst animation.

8Chiori

Chioriis one of the most formidable Geo DPS in Genshin Impact, considering how you’re able to work on both your defense and attack for maximum damage. Using her Elemental Skill, Chiori can inflict a lot of damage with her trusty companion Tamoto.

Her Elemental Burst has a low energy recharge cost, so you only just need to wait for a slightly longer cooldown to use it repeatedly. Her passive skill, Tailor-Made, can also help you switch characters quickly, while her Tamoto stays on the field.

Genshin Impact’s Sigewinne giggling to herself.

7Sigewinne

We have many Hydro healers in Genshin Impact andSigewinneis one of the good ones. Using her elemental skill, you will be able to deal decent damage while healing the rest of your party, even when they are not on the field. However, the skill doesn’t heal Sigewinne until her bubble is gone.

Her kit isn’t just limited to healing, she also increases the damage dealt by the Elemental Skills of the rest of your teammates when Sigewinne is on the field. This can be particularly helpful for characters that depend on skills dealing off-field damage.

Genshin Impact’s Clorinde in her Awesome Ultimate Animation.

6Clorinde

There isn’t much toClorinde’s Kit except dealing a lot of Electro damage using her Elemental Skill and Burst. Using Hunter’s Vigil, she can infuse her normal attacks with electro and can constantly shoot an opponent while also moving quickly from one place to another.

you’re able to also trigger a lot of Elemental Reactions using her Elemental Skill. To create an ideal team for her, you need characters that can inflict some off-field elemental damage while they are switched out. Her agile playstyle can be a bit hard to get used to, but it’s very formidable overall.

Lyney on stage in the Opera Epiclese during the Archon Quest from Genshin Impact

5Lyney

Lyneyspecializes in Charged attacks using his bow, so you will be able to inflict a tremendous amount of damage on a single opponent. He works very well, especially in boss battles. Lyney is essentially a one-man band and doesn’t rely on elemental reactions done by the rest of your team.

While he loses a lot of HP during his charged shots, you’re able to recover it all using his Elemenatal Skill. Lyney is vulnerable to interruptions as you are charging your attacks, so he can be a bit harder to use without any shielder.

Wriothesley is standing near a statue of the seven in Genshin Impact.

4Wriothesley

Wriothesleyis essentially a better version of Charlotte. He is a strong Cryo DPS utilizing his normal attacks, Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst. If you use him with characters that apply Hydro off-field, you can deal massive damage while they are unable to move.

His Elemental Skill increases the damage done by his normal attacks, but you have to look out for his HP, though you will be able to recover it with his passive talent. Wriotheseley also gets some additional attack power when he loses or gains health.
