Destiny 2’slatest episode, Revenant, has dozens of new weapons to chase across a wide range of activities. We’ve covered seasonal weapons and dungeon god rolls in previous guides, but today, we’ll be looking at the seasonal playlist weapons—those you’d find in ritual playlists, generic Legendary engrams, and timed PvP modes like Iron Banner—to see which rolls are worth chasing.
Some fan-favorite weapons have returned, including the likes of Bygones and Chroma Rush. If you’re looking for powerful new weapons to spice up your loadouts or collect dust in your Vault (we won’t judge), you’ve come to the right place.
Anonymous Autumn
Anonymous Autumn was a sleeper pick back in the Forsaken era. It never took off as a meta weapon in PvE or PvP, but it was a respectable workhorse weapon if you fought up close. This episode’s reprisal leaves a little to be desired in PvE due to general powercreep, but Anonymous Autumn hasn’t lost its edge inside the Crucible.
PvE players can’t go wrong withEnlightened ActionandVoltshot.Hits with this weapon will ramp up its reload speed and handling. Get a kill before reloading, and your next shot willinflict Jolt lightning, making this a solid weapon for easier PvE activities. As for PvP,Zen Momentpaired withKill Clipis absurdly good in the hands of a good player. You’ll have virtually no recoil for most gunfights and lead into follow-up engagements with a blazing-fast 0.5s TTK.
Stability
Archon’s Thunder
We haven’t gotten a new Stasis LMG since Qullim’s Terminus back in Season of the Plunder, and that gun is tied to a raid. Archon’s Thunder might not have the most exciting perk pool for a Machine Gun, but it is perfectly serviceable if you don’t have a 5/5 Hammerhead or Qullim’s Terminus in your Vault.
PvE players should only use this gun for Stasis builds, so you might as well go all-in on that fantasy withRimestealerandHeadstone.Precision kills are easy to land at 360 RPM, making it easy to shatter Stasis crystals and ramp up your Rimestealer stacks. Crucible players can make this a discount Hammerhead withFourth Time’s the CharmandKilling Tally.You don’t have 90 aim assist or a fast fire rate, but this will get the job done all the same.
Range
Bygones
After many years, the Drifter has finally updated Bygones and added it to the Gambit loot pool. ThisAdaptive FramePulse Rifle was originally known for its clean chevron scope and minimal visual recoil. That remains true today, and you can even lean into this somewhat with your choice of perks.
Pulse Rifles generally aren’t used in PvE due to their low base damage, although you’re able to mitigate this issue withKinetic Tremors.A few bursts on the same target will cause them to explode multiple times in quick succession, which can then procShoot To Lootfor automatic ammo and Orb pickup.
Adaptive Pulses struggle a bit in the current PvP sandbox unless you have a damage perk. Thankfully, you can still get Kill Clip on Bygones, lowering the gun’s TTK to a fast 0.6s after a kill. For that initial kill, you can rely onZen Momentto mitigate all incoming flinch and reticle bounce. It’s not nearly as strong as in Forsaken, but sometimes a gun just needs to feel good to be worth using. Bygones certainly fits that description.
High Ground
If you don’t mind fighting on elevated terrain, High Ground is incredibly strong in PvP. It allows you to two-burst an opponent much more easily.
Chroma Rush
Chroma Rush quickly became a fan-favorite back in Season of the Splicer, and now it’s back in Revenant with a new suite of perks. It’s not an S-tier pick in PvE—the best combination isSubsistenceandFrenzy, a fairly standard roll for low-stakes PvE activities—but this gun feels fantastic to shoot in PvPandhas great perks.
720 RPM Auto Rifles are incredibly strong if you can buff their range stat and give them a damage perk. Chroma Rush can get both throughKilling WindandKill Clip.A single kill will bump this gun’s range to roughly 34 meters and give you a 0.67s TTK. If you don’t like triggering Kill Clip, you can even runTarget Lockto shift the gun’s TTK to be much more forgiving. You effectively have an SMG that covers a greater distance and is easier to use. Don’t sleep on this gun.
Deadlock
Deadlock is the latest reward from the Competitive PvP playlist, a 65 RPM Precision Shotgun in the Kinetic slot. It’s meant to be a direct replacement to Fractethyst and an alternative to Matador 64, arguably the best PvP Shotgun in the game currently. Considering Deadlock’s high base stats and ability to roll stocks, we’re off to a good start.
It has the same combination ofThreat DetectorandOpening Shot, but we highly recommend you runClosing Timeinstead. This perk gives you range, accuracy, and handling based on how low your magazine is. Since you won’t have a full mag most of the time in PvP, you’re looking at an accuracy boost that exceeds what Opening Shot gives, all at the cost of aim assist.
If you just so happen to get a roll withGrave RobberandOne-Two Punch, go ahead and keep it for PvE use. We don’t recommend farming Comp solely for a PvE Deadlock roll, but it’s a solid option for PvE melee builds if you’re fortunate enough to get one.
Gridskipper
Rapid-Fire Pulse Rifles are incredibly fun to use if you may get used to their recoil pattern. Gridskipper is arguably one of the smoothest 540s to shoot, featuring a clean optic and some excellent consistency perks likeZen MomentandHeadseekerfor PvP. If you want more handling for aggressive play, you can also goKilling WindandElemental Capacitor (Arc)to cap the gun’s handling.
You likely won’t find much success with Gridskipper in endgame PvE content since it’s a Pulse Rifle, although its perk pool makes it a solid workhorse in matchmade content like Onslaught and Vanguard Ops. For those modes, you’re able to’t go wrong withDemolitionistandFrenzy.
Legato-11
If you’re using a slug Shotgun in PvE, chances are you’re interested in DPS hotswap loadouts. Legato-11 isn’t a bad option for that scenario, provided you get a roll withAuto-Loading HolsterandCascade Point.Land a few precision hits with your other weapon(s), swap to Legato-11, dump your entire magazine into the boss, and repeat.
Crucible players can’t leverage any cheesy hip-fire setups on this gun, so you’ll want generic consistency perks likeLone WolfandClosing Time.Only chase this gun if you love slug Shotguns and want to mix things up. For everyone else, get Heritage or Sojourner’s Tale instead.
Live Fire
There are far better 180 Scout Rifles than Live Fire, but at least this weapon is in the world loot pool.RimestealerandHeadstoneisn’t a bad option for Stasis mains looking for a consistent source of Frost Armor, but as an actual weapon, it has nothing on endgame Scout Rifles—Hung Jury, Doom of Chelchis, Timeworn Wayfarer, orPolaris Lance, to name a few.
You shouldonlybring this gun to PvP if you can adjust its TTK through subclass keywords or Exotics. For example, usingMask of BakriswithRampagewill give this weapon a 0.67s TTK against all Resilience levels. Not bad, but that first kill will feel like pulling teeth unless you lean heavily into passive play.
Neoptolemus II
I haven’t seen such a bad weapon in years of playing Destiny 2, not at least since Beyond Light. This is a Precision Bow with zero AoE perks, no draw time perks, and a lack of useful PvP perks. Its stats are nothing to write home about, either. Don’t even bother keeping a roll for this weapon. It’s a complete waste of space in your inventory.Anyother Bow will serve you better.
PvP Roll
Plug One.1
There’s not much to cover with this variant of Plug One. It has the tried-and-true combo ofReconstructionandControlled Burstfor PvE backup DPS, and it has a few strong PvP perks if you don’t mind the lengthy charge times of a Precision Frame.Under PressureandClosing Timehave excellent synergy and effectively eliminate bloom on your Fusion Rifle, at least for the final burst. Give it a try if you get either roll drop while farming Nightfalls.

Rake Angle
Let’s disregard perks for a second.This is the first Glaive to reside in the Kinetic slot.That’s reason enough to farm for this weapon, but it turns out that Rake Angle isn’t a bad Glaive either.Replenishing Aegisis best-in-slot if you use your Glaive like a riot shield. Throw onUnstoppable Forcefor a free 20% damage boost to your projectiles or, if you like using the melee attack,Close to Meleefor an easy 30% damage buff.
Shield Duration
Sojourner’s Tale
Sojourner’s Tale hasn’t changed much since Season of the Splicer. For PvE DPS, it can now getAuto-Loading HolsterwithPrecision Instrument, giving it solid DPS for a Special weapon if you can land all of your headshots. As for the Crucible, the classic combination ofMoving TargetandOpening Shotworks here. Just be sure to ADS before you fire to maximize the gun’s aim assist.
Tinasha’s Mastery
Pack it up, everyone. We now have the new best Rocket Sidearm in Destiny 2, and it’s not even close. Since this is a Stasis weapon, Tinasha’s Mastery can getChill Clipin the second column, allowing this weapon toslow targetswith shots from the top half of the magazine. It’s currently unknown if this gun will freeze targets in two or three shots, but it doesn’t matter. Any Rocket Pistol that can counter all three Champion types easily sits in the S-tier category.
You also have some amazing reload perks, notablyAir Trigger.That might seem like a strange recommendation at first glance, but this perk gives a massive 20% reload speed scalar and +30 to the reload speed stat. That roughly cuts your reload speed in half while airborne,andthis perk gives you deeper ammo reserves for this gun. We have nothing but praise to give here, excluding PvP—Rocket Sidearms are terrible in The Crucible. Be sure to farm Iron Banner to get your hands on this gun.

Tomorrow’s Answer
Strangely, this Trials of Osiris weapon is tailored for PvE players instead of Crucible fans.If you play PvP, you may skip this weapon.It has a decent combination ofImpulse AmplifierandCluster Bombfor a generic all-purpose Heavy weapon, but you generally have better options.
PvE is where Tomorrow’s Answer shines. This is currently the only Rocket Launcher that can getEnvious Arsenal, allowing this weapon to auto-reload whenever you deal damage with your other two weapons. This pairs exceptionally well withBait and Switch’sproc effect, ensuring that every hotswap rocket deals 30% more damage. It won’t top Rapid-Fire GLs in the current meta, but keep your eyes peeled for this roll if you ever decide to visit the Lighthouse.

Veleda-F
Veleda-F isn’t going to take Succession or Supremacy’s place for best DPS Sniper Rifle. You don’t have many good reload perks on here, but it is currently one of a handful of weapons that can getWithering Gaze, a variant of Box Breathing that infuses your next shot with Weaken if you ADS for a short duration. This is invaluable for debuffing bosses and Champions in a PvE setting. Throw onRepulsor Bracefor a free Void Overshield against majors.
Sniper mains likely have a PvP Sniper they already love, but if you’re still on the hunt for your perfect gun, you might enjoy Veleda-F. It has a clean scope, 47 zoom, and can getSnapshot Sightspaired withVorpal Weapon.If your aim is true, shutting down Supers should be trivial with this gun.
Handling
Wicked Sister
WhileAdaptive FrameGLs might not be the strongest anymore, Wicked Sister’s perk pool is filled to the brim with excellent options. Anyone farming the Vanguard Ops playlist this season should be on the look out forEnvious ArsenalwithBait and Switch.This is arguably stronger than Edge Transit and Cataphract GL3 for burst DPS, provided you’re comfortable hotswapping weapons.
As for PvP, this weapon can easily hit 70 Blast Radius, the threshold needed to one-tap a Guardian with a GL’s blast damage. Throw onImpulse Amplifierfor faster projectiles andFull Courtto give your grenades a slight damage increase. you may also opt forChain Reactionif you have ample Blast Radius.

Yesterday’s Question
Two-burst Hand Cannons are not in a great spot currently, at least in PvP. That’s an issue since Yesterday’s Question is a Trials of Osiris reward, a pinnacle PvP activity. Perks on this weapon don’t address the archetype’s shortcomings (outside ofZen Momentin the second column).
Yesterday’s Question is clearly aimed at PvE players, but even then, it’s a tough sell.Fourth Time’s the CharmandVorpal Weaponis your best combination forLucky PantsDPS, which is the exact same roll that Warden’s Law gets, a Nightfall weapon. You can spice things up withAir TriggerandVoltshot, but is that worth farming Trials of Osiris for? Not really.
