Summary
Analogue has been creating ways to play games that might have otherwise been lost to history for more than a decade, perhaps best known for the Analogue Pocket. Its next project might well be its most ambitious to date, though. The Analogue 3Dis an homage to theNintendo 64compatible with all your old N64 cartridges.
Analogue announced the Analogue 3D in 2023, but this week was the first time it has shown off what the home console will look like. Available in black or white, while the 3D isn’t officially affiliated withNintendo, its size and shape are very similar to the N64. Considering its entire purpose is to play old N64 cartridges, that makes a lot of sense.
The only part of the Analogue 3D that doesn’t resemble the N64’s design is its controllers, and let’s be honest, that’s probably a good thing. I know I will have just upset a lot of N64 controller defenders, but there’s a reason no other controller since - including ones made by Nintendo - has looked anything like it.
Introducing The Analogue 3D, A Modern Day Homage To The Nintendo 64
Analogue worked with 8bitdo to create an N64 controller for the 21st century. Even though the new accessory might not look like a traditional N64 controller, a lot about it is the same. Not only the button layout but the size and shape of those buttons as well. Plus, if the controller needs an update, it can get one just by being plugged into your console. The N64 could never. The only downside is the controllers don’t come with the console, you will need to pre-order and buy them separately for $39.99 each.
As great as it would be if the Analogue 3D provided a way for you to play any of your N64 games and nothing more, it goes a big step beyond that. Not only can you use it to play those games, but it will also make those games look better than they ever did in the late ’90s thanks to its 4K resolution.
Analogue 3D - Black
From the creators of the Analogue Pocket comes the Analogue 3D. A home console that is compatible with all of the Nintendo 64’s original cartridges and makes them look better than ever in 4K.
8bitdo 64 Bluetooth Controller
Analogue paired up with 8bitdo to create a controller compatible with its homage to the Nintendo 64, the Analogue 3D. The buttons and thumbstick have been created to replicate the ones on an original N64 controller and it’s available in black or white.
Pre-orders for both colors of the Analogue 3D and its controllers will begin at 11 am EST on Jul 01, 2025, through the links in the boxes above. The console is $249.99 and the controllers are $39.99 each, and I guess you’ll need four of them if you want to accurately recreate the buzz that came with playing four-player split-screenGoldenEye. Even though pre-order details have been confirmed, a release date for the Analogue 3D hasn’t been revealed yet.
