Summary
Assassin’s Creed Shadowsis just a couple of months away, but despite that, we don’t know where it will fall when it comes to the graphical modes that will be available to players. It may feel like an industry standard at this point, but we have had some pretty high profile titles stick with 30fps on PS5 and Xbox Series X.Dragon’s Dogma 2and Gotham Knights are just a couple of examples.
Thankfully, Ubisoft seems to still want to give players a 60fps option, as was seen inStar Wars Outlawsearlier this year, and it seems as though we have nothing to fear fromAssassin’s Creed Shadows. According to some new details about the gameshared by Arabhardware on Twitter, the game will have a 60fps mode on all platforms.
Arabhardware doesn’t mention if this includes Xbox Series S though. A lot of developers have struggled to get their games running at 60fps on the slightly downgraded system, most recently Black Myth: Wukong. It was reported that developer Game Science gave the entire platform a miss as it couldn’t get the game running well on Xbox Series S,and recent simulations suggest that it struggles an awful lot. It sounds as though Ubisoft has managed to properly support the console though.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Weather Will Affect Gameplay
Outside the 60fps mode options, it was also reported by Arabhardware that the weather in Assassin’s Creed Shadows may play a much larger part in the gameplay than we first thought. For example, it’s claimed that enemies can get sunstroke if they stand around in the sun for too long while it’s blaring, and that Naoe won’t be heard as easily when it’s raining.
If that’s true, then Assassin’s Creed Shadows has some pretty complex weather systems going on, and it could add another interesting layer of gameplay on top of some interesting returning features. We recently learned from Ubisoft itself thatShadows will bring back double assassinations, which haven’t been in the series since Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. Along with these interesting weather mechanics, it sounds as though Shadows may be a lot more complex than other games in the series.
