Spoilers for evil playthroughs of The Dark Urge in Baldur’s Gate 3 ahead.

Summary

Playing asThe Dark UrgeinBaldur’s Gate 3changes a lot about your playthrough, including how you romance your companions. Now, your love interest has to help you navigate the compulsion for murder that threatens to overtake you at every turn, making their romance extra angsty if you fail to resist the urge.

So, naturally, The Dark Urge’s new evil ending makes the most of this, giving us one final conversation with our love interest before we carry out Bhaal’s will. In this conversation, you’re able to give your paramour the “honour” of being your first kill in your campaign against Faerûn, and their reactions are absolutely heartbreaking.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Love Interests React To The Dark Urge’s Evil Ending

The video above shows all of the companion reactions to The Dark Urge going fully evil, with the first section focusing on the love interests. Each one of them reacts differently to your fall - and they all have different final words when you turn your blade on them.

Minthara and ascended Astarion are the only two who respond positively to you controlling the Netherbrain in Bhaal’s name. However, their support of your murderous rampage isn’t enough to spare them, and The Dark Urge kills them too. They’re both in absolute disbelief, clearly thinking that they’d be slaughtering the innocents at your side.

Everyone else, however, is either heartbroken, disgusted, or outraged by your actions. A special shoutout to Wyll and Shadowheart for tearing my heart into tiny pieces.EspeciallyWyll, in fact, as he uses his dying breath to forgive you for killing him.

Cathartically, non-ascended Astarion and Karlach curse you before they die, just as you deserve. But no matter what kind of reaction you get, it’s all horrible, making this an ending that’s befitting The Dark Urge.

It isn’t just The Dark Urge who got shown some love in this update though.Every origin character has their own unique evil ending now, letting you finish whatever playthrough you’ve started as a downright cruel bastard.
