Summary

2024 marks 85 years sinceBatman’s first comic book appearance, andDChas been doing just about everything it can think of to celebrate that. Even though we are now in the final few months of the year, those celebrations aren’t over yet. Joining everything DC has already done to mark Batman turning 85 today is a brand newFunko Pop, its design one of the most unique yet for a Dark Knight Popinspired by Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins.

Before Christian Bale’s Batman clashed with Heath Ledger’s Joker in The Dark Knight, the caped crusader had to deal with Scarecrow. Whether it’s the movies, the games, or the comics, Scarecrow’s primary tool when it comes to making Batman’s life a misery is his fear toxin. The way Batman appeared in Batman Begins while under the influence of that toxin is one of the most strikingly terrifying designs the hero has ever had, and now that look has been transformed into a Funko Pop.

It wasn’t Batman who saw himself this way in Batman Begins when exposed to the toxin, but Dr. Jonathan Crane whose perception of Batman was warped when he was sprayed with the very same fear gas he had been peddling. Seeing Batman as more of a black skeleton than a human in a black suit, that eerie image of The Dark Knight’s Funko Popwill be available exclusively at Funko’s websitethrough the link in the box belowstarting from 12:30 pm EST today (July 15, 2025).

The Scariest Batman Has Ever Looked

The Fear Gas Batman Funko Pop is $15and even though it isn’t available to buy at the time of typing this, Funko has already listed it as being final sale. That usually means there’s only one wave of stock and once that stock is gone, the Pop will be gone forever. There’s no guarantee that’s the case, of course, and there’s a chance there will be more batches in the future. However, if you like this Pop and don’t want to run the risk of paying an inflated price for it through a resale site at a later date, probably best to pick it up while it’s available at Funko.

One of many things DC did to celebrate 85 years of Batman, this unique and incredibly creepy Funko Pop is modeled after how The Dark Knight appears to Jonathan Crane after he has ingested some of Scarecrow’s fear toxin in Batman Begins.

As noted above, there has been a lot of stuff released to celebrate Batman turning 85 this year. DC teamed up with Mattelto create a very special collection of Hot Wheels Batmobiles, each with a tiny Batman figure, as well as a Batman 85th anniversary Little People Collector Set. There have also been a couple of very special Lego sets, including a toy brick recreation ofthe Gotham skyline in Batman The Animated Series, anda Lego Batmobile based on its design in the 1960s live-action show.
