Summary
InFields of Mistria, part of the fun is bettering your relationships with the townsfolk. As you do, you’ll unlock special quests with them that let you get to know them better. Currently, only the two and four heart events are out, but more will be added over time.
No matter which candidate is your favorite, your chances of romance begin at two hearts, when your special someone invites you to do something. Some of these cutscenes left us with a sense of mystery and questions we eagerly want answered, while others fell flat. However, romance has to start somewhere. Fields of Mistria decided it was best to start here.
10Juniper
Becoming Juniper’s Guinea Pig
When you walk into the bathhouse, you watch Juniper test a potion on Olric. It’s supposed to boost his strength, but it gives him rabbit ears instead. After he leaves,Juniper admits she’s been testing her potions on the townsfolk. With no other option to protect the townsfolk, you agree to become Juniper’s guinea pig.
This may just be the first heart event, but it feels like Juniper is threatening you and forcing you to give into her demands. The scene does nothing to make you like her more. If anything, it makes you more wary of her. That’s the opposite of what you want to do for a potential love interest.
9Adeline
The Smell Of Drying Ink
Adeline needs your help with paperwork. Eiland and Elsie are already helping her, but she wants you to go over something specific. Luckily, she’s had the inn prepare treats for when the paperwork is done. You may not have finished first, but you got a cherry tart out of it.
Sadly, though this is a heart event, it hardly feels like one. Instead, it feels like more main story work. You’re just helping the town be revitalized. There’s nothing romantic about that. Still, you have to admire Adeline’s charm.
8Hayden
A Get Together
Hayden invites you to a get-together with Valen, Ryis, March, and himself to play board games and eat popcorn. However, things get tense when Henrietta takes the seat March wants. March gets frustrated, and the chicken decides she’d rather cool off elsewhere, leaving the room. Hayden decides to bring her a bowl of popcorn later.
While we’re not sure whether chickens can even eat popcorns, there’s a bigger problem with this scene: Hayden isn’t the main focus. It’s March or even Henrietta. While it’s nice to hang out with good friends and have a good time, this isn’t what we were expecting from the introductionto romance with our fellow farmer.
7Valen
The Annual Checkup
You visit the clinic for an annual checkup, but find that the doctor has her hands full with Hayden currently. You get some sort of magic substance for Valen out of a barrel in her basement, and Hayden is seemingly cured. Your checkup goes well too, but Valen won’t answer any questions about her creepy basement.
Valen has to be hiding something.You can feel it in your bones. Or maybe that’s just the check-up. Though far from romantic, this cutscene lets you see a few different sides of Valen - the kind and caring doctor, the stern and sensible older lady, and a mysterious vibe for reasons Valen would rather not get into. It’s not romantic, but it sure is interesting.

Surprise Me
March invites you to the blacksmith shopto let you know that he still doesn’t trust you. He’s sure that once the going gets tough, you’re going to leave. Still, maybe you’ll surprise him. Just in case, he gives you a lightweight copper hoe to help with your work.
It’s clear that March is a tsundere. He acts like he doesn’t like you, but he shows a different side when drunk in the bar. He just has a tough time letting his emotions out. March may not have been nice about it, but he gave you something to help. Tsundere characterse may be overdone these days, but there’s a certain charm about March, so we’ll forgive him.
5Eiland
The Stele
There are plenty of mysterious places around Mystria, andEiland is happy to show you one. There is a stele in town that gives a few clues about who the Dragonsworn was and what they did. You find a secret compartment with the Dragonsworn Greaves inside. Eiland is excited to have more to study, and the two of you part ways.
Eiland is charming with his passion for history and mythology, so it feels nice seeing him so excited about a discovery. You may have found a kindred soul in him as you try to fill up the museum with all its artifacts. Either way, you know you’ll have Eiland’s support every step of the way.
4Reina
Pie In The Sky
Reina invited you to the innto have some pie. She admits to you that Adeline was supposed to visit today and tell her if Mistria can spread its cooking across the country. Adeline walks in then and confirms that Reina has a chance to wow some cooking judges with her work. Reina’s nervous, but you assure her that you believe in her and will help however you’re able to. Plus, you get some wildberry pie out of it.
The scene isn’t super romantic, but you feel a close friendship with Reina. She wants to make you happy with her cooking, and she trusts you enough to rely on your help. You’re not sure what exactly the contest entails but, if anyone can succeed at it, it’s definitely Reina.
3Ryis
Bird Song
Landen sends you to check on Ryis, who is relaxing in the ruins southeast of the shop. Ryis decides he wants to rebuild a bird house for the birds who live nearby, since the old one was destroyed in the earthquake. He thinks he’s being silly, but you just think it’s a nice thing to do.
Ryis is a charmer, and it’s nice to see this soft side of him that wants to help animals. We’re not entirely sure where he intends to put the birdhouse since its original tree was destroyed, but there are plenty of other trees he can put it in.Ryis is a kind and gentle soul, and we’re just happy we could lend a hand.
2Celine
The Unusual Seed
Celine invites you to her house to show you a book Errol lent her. She wants to try growing a rare flower from this book, but she needs your help finding the flower’s seed first. You manage to dig up an unusual seed east of town, which you give to Celine.
It’s sweet that Celine asks for your help to find the seed. You may not have been a farmer long, but she trusts that you’ll be a reliable partner in this endeavor. We can’t help but wonder what the flower will look like when it’s fully grown orwhat this love will look like when it’s fully blossomed.
1Balor
Tall, Dark, And Mysterious
Balor needs your help unloading supplies for the relief effort. However, as you help him work, you hear Nora get frustrated with his low prices and grow suspicious of Balor. She wonders if he’s trying to peddle stolen goods, and that’s why his prices are so low.
The quest name fits Balor well.At this point, you know little about him. He’s a merchant whose prices are surprisingly reasonable, even if his products are rare. You can understand why Nora’s suspicious but, more importantly, you’re left with a certain curiosity. Why does Balor price his goods the way he does? And why does he trust you to help him? You suppose you’ll just have to play on to find out.
