Who doesn’t love jigsaws? If you’re someone who enjoys these puzzles,Wilmot Works It Outis perfect for you. The game features eight seasons, and in each season, you receive a certain number of puzzles delivered by Postwoman Sam. Of course, not every piece you receive belongs to a single puzzle, which can make the game quite unique and challenging.
Additionally, similar pieces can easily lead you into traps. For example, the colors and shapes in a picture of an octopus and a jellyfish can sometimes confuse you. Or, not having enough pieces can create uncertainties about which puzzle to focus on. If you’re ready, we’ve prepared detailed beginner tips for you.
Don’t Work Messily With Puzzle Pieces
At its core, the game is a jigsaw puzzle where you combine pieces of specific images, and the completed pictures are hung on Wilmot’s wall. You receive the puzzles via mail, but there’s a big twist. The delivery pieces you receive can help complete one or multiple puzzles, butthey may not necessarily belong to the puzzle you’re currently trying to solve.
These pieces could belong to puzzles that will come in future deliveries. As a result, at some point, you may find yourself surrounded by pieces from different puzzles. Therefore, it’s essential towork in an organized and tidy manner.Collect pieces with specific patterns, figures, and shapes in designated areas of the room; this is the best method you can follow.
By gathering similiar pieces in one place, you will be able to solve incoming puzzles more easily later on. Remember,Wilmot can carry multiple pieces at once.Instead of transporting them one by one, you may save time by carrying them as a bundle.
Analyze The Corners Of The Pieces Carefully
When assembling pieces, the most important thing topay attention to is the image on the piece. For example, if the top part of a piece has a half-finished image of a ladder, another piece may have the other half at its bottom. However,if that piece is meant for a corner or edge of the puzzle, you may not be able to find the piece you’re looking for, leading to wasted time and effort.
Therefore, make sure tozoom in and carefully examine the shapeswhen analyzing the corners of pieces. You should also ensure that you gather similar pieces in the same place.
Additionally, some pieces may look very similar but have slight differences; in fact, the piece you’re working on might belong to a different puzzle. Also, some pieces may contain only one color or seem incompatible with others; it may be more beneficial to use them after the puzzle is a bit more complete.
Be Careful With Similar Pieces
You will encounter 75 images in the game, and while most of them are different, some pieces may confuse you. In each season, you will come across many similar pieces belonging to different images. For example, the textures on a mushroom may resemble those on a leopard. Therefore,if the similar pieces don’t fit the puzzle you’re working on, there’s no need to force it.
The pieces you need for another puzzle may not have been delivered to you yet. There aremany images in the same season that use the same textures and pieces. For instance, one wall made of bricks of the same shape and color could belong to a large graffiti wall, while another could be a graffiti-free image with the same bricks.
Since suchsimilar pieces can waste a lot of your time, it would be more logical to focus on the pieces that contain patterns and elements that distinguish the two images.
Combining Pieces From Inside To Outside Is A Good Method
Analyzing what the images are and their surrounding componentsis extremely important. Some images may feature only animals or humans, while others may include patterns. The pieces surrounding the image can be confusing. Generally, you can find components such as trees, grass, space, sky, and sea outside the image.
In this case, rather than starting with the components outside the image,it makes more sense to complete the puzzle from the inside out. This way, you’llleave the more difficult parts for last.Since you’re able to easily find the objects in the foreground of the image within the inner parts, it will be easier to combine the remaining challenging sections.
Still, regardless of whether they are inside or outside, you shouldfocus on things that will make it easier for you to concentrate on the solution, such as human faces, specific patterns, or animals. Remember that the pieces inside provide more details and visual information than those outside. Therefore, if you solve from the inside out, you will progress faster.
Don’t Hesitate To Use The Trial-And-Error Method
Of course, sometimes no matter how much you try, it’s impossible to find the right piece. This situation often occurs when multiple pieces from different puzzles are scattered around, especially when you have similar pieces filling the room. In such cases, the trial-and-error method will be the best solution.
Take the shapes that you think may fit the puzzleand attach them to Wilmot. Then, try to add the pieces you think will fit into the puzzle one by one.As another method, if you have a piece with a cloud on it and can’t find where it fits, try it in various places throughout the puzzle.
Keep trying to attach it from all sides—right, left, above, and below—until you find the correct spot. If it still doesn’t work, try to complete the puzzle a bit more with the other pieces or keep in mind the possibility that the missing piece may belong to a different puzzle.
Also, remember thatif you place a piece in the correct location, it will shine. So, while applying the trial-and-error method, carefully monitor whether the pieces are shining or not.
You Don’t Have To Collect Puzzle Deliveries Immediately
With each puzzle delivery, you receive a certain number of puzzle pieces, and you need to find the suitable ones to solve the puzzles. The remaining pieces must be used in the puzzles that come with other deliveries. Usually, when you solve one or sometimes two puzzles, the doorbell rings, and the postperson delivers new puzzle pieces to you.
However, you don’t have to open the door as soon as the bell rings.Instead, you cancombine the pieces from other puzzles that you can already connectin the room. If the pieces are independent of each other, separate those you think belong to the same puzzle in designated areas of the room.
After the door rings a few times, the postperson will leave the delivery at your doorstep. Once you’ve organized the room, you can collect the delivery and open the package in a location away from the other pieces. This way, you’ll have organized the room better before opening the new puzzle.
Remember That You Will Encounter Abstract Puzzles
Not every puzzle consists of just landscapes or character images. Some puzzles may feature certain patterns, abstract images, or dark tones that, upon inspection, do not follow the usual methods you apply to every image. This means you’ll need to think outside the box.
Therefore, after assembling a few pieces, if there is a pattern, you should find other pieces with that pattern to continue it. Additionally, some images can be in very dark tones. Since there is no brightness adjustment in the game, you canincrease your computer’s brightness settingsto overcome this issue.
Knowing that most of the pieces in the game are light-toned will significantly reduce your options when solving dark-toned puzzles, as you won’t be using light-colored pieces.
In abstract puzzles, you can frequently rely on the trial-and-error method; after assembling a few pieces, you’ll quickly understand what the puzzle is about. Since some puzzles are quite small, consisting of only four or nine pieces, overthinking too many pieces can lead you to a trap.
You Should Use Different Methods for Marathon Mode
Marathon Mode is a mode unlocked after you finish the game. You need to complete all puzzles in this mode, and remember there are 75 puzzles in the game. To successfully complete this mode, don’t forget toopen all the delivery packages you receive. The reason for this is that thepieces you need to solve the puzzle you’re trying to work on may be in other packages.
Another important point in this mode is towork on the puzzles simultaneously. If you work on multiple puzzles, you’re able to find pieces more easily. You can follow two different paths in this regard:
Start Marathon Mode on a different save file, and if you struggle too much, you cancheck what the images look like in a save from another main mode you completed.
