Summary

InPokemon Pocket, Energy is the name of the game. The first player to get enough Energy on their Pokemon gets to attack first and, in some cases, you can do this on your first turn. While the game uses a mana system that gives you one Energy per turn, the best decks have a way of accelerating this using specific cards.

Some methods of Energy acceleration include getting a powerful Pokemon to use their Moves, while others can do it passively while on the Bench. Meanwhile, there are some specific Trainers that can get the job done as long as you’re ok with the fine print.

Exeggcute Mythical Island Pokemon TCG Pocket Card Art.

Updated on July 06, 2025 by Alexander Pinera:Pokemon Pocket’s Mythical Island set introduces fresh tactics for getting more Energy each turn. This can help you add more types to your deck, get Pokemon ready for battle quicker, or double the amount of Energy you currently have in play. Play your cards right, and you’ll discover that some Pokemon can even use their opponent’s strengths to utilize some Energy acceleration Moves they otherwise don’t have natively. So, if you want to get your team ready so you can start attacking, here are the best Energy acceleration cards to start using.

12Exeggcute

A Self-Starter

Exeggcute is a unique Energy accelerator due to the fact that it only allows you to take Energy for itself. However, this isn’t a bad thing at all. Due to Exeggcute’s Evolution in Mythical Island, the entire line only requires one Grass Energy to be splashable.

This makes it a great way of generating extra Grass Energy for itself in a Grass deck, or as a method of using Exeggcutor ex in any deck that doesn’t run Grass. This allows for more type diversity in deckbuilding.

11Serperior

An Unstoppable Ability

Serperior can get any of your Pokemon ready to go simply by sitting on the Bench. Jungle Totem isa unique Ability that allows every Grass Energy to count for twowhen attached to a Grass Pokemon. So Moves that would cost four Energy will instead cost only two.

This Ability allows you to pay for Moves, Retreat Costs, or even maximize your potential damage output with Celebi ex. There are many powerful Pokemon that synergize with this Ability, making it the perfect Energy accelerator for Grass decks.

10Vaporeon

Rearrange Your Energy

Vaporeon is an Energy accelerator in the same way that Lt. Surge is for Electric decks. However, while Lt. Surge can only move Energy from the Bench to select Pokemon in the Active Spot, Vaporeon can move Energy from any Water-type Pokemon.

This also doesn’t happen all at once, but rather one Energy at a time. So you can make plays where you move Energy to pay for a Retreat Cost, then keep moving any leftover Energy to fuel the Pokemon taking the Active Spot.

9Mew ex

Copy Any Energy-Producing Moves

Mew ex cannot accelerate Energy on its own. However, due to the nature of its Move, Genome Hacking, it more than earns a spot as an Energy accelerator. This is because it can copy any Move including those that manifest Energy.

Copying Exeggcute allows Mew ex to gain Grass Energy. It can produce Steel Energy by copying Meltan. In a Fire deck, Mew ex can copy Moltres ex’s Inferno Dance to get Fire Energy ontoother Fire-types. While Mew ex does have to follow some of the restrictions as to where the Energy goes, Genome Hacking is more than capable of speeding things up.

8Meltan

A Greedy Steel-type

Meltan is a strange little Pokemon who doesn’t want to share its Energy. Luckily, there aren’t that many Steel-types to begin with and Meltan just happens to bethe best choice for Energy acceleration. Its one Move, Amass, does no damage but lets you attach an extra Steel Energy to it each turn.

At most, you’ll only need to use this Move twice before Evolving it into Melmetal. That way you may pay the four Energy cost to use Heavy Impact. Now, you can start dishing out 120 damage each turn and sweep the victory with ease as long as there are no Fire-types on the field.

7Lt. Surge

Move Energy Around

Lt. Surge is an interesting card because it accelerates your goal of getting Energy on your strongest Pokemon but doesn’t produce Energy by itself. Using this card, you can move any existing Electric Energy from your Benched Pokemon to your Active Raichu, Electrode, or Electabuzz.

While these choices are less than stellar, Raichu does benefit from this effect due to the fact that it discards all three of its Energy when it uses Thunderbolt. This Move does 140 damage, making Lt. Surge worth it if you’re using Raichu in your deck for some major hits in a deck that doesn’t revolve around ex Pokemon.

6Brock

An Energy Card In The Form Of A Trainer

There are noEnergy cards in Pokemon TCGPocket. This is because all Energy comes from the Energy Zone. However, the closest thing you will have to an Energy card in this game is Brock. This is because playing it immediately produces one Energy that you attach to a Pokemon.

Like Lt. Surge, this only helps select Pokemon such as Onix or Golem but at least it produces an extra Energy rather than shuffling existing ones around. Neither of these Pokemon are top tier, but Golem can produce some devastating damage that is worth the investment of a Brock, while Onix can easily start hitting for 70 starting at turn two.

5Magneton

A Battery That Can Fight Too

Maneton has a neat gimmick for an Electric-type Pokemon. It can stay on the Bench and charge up its Energy count by using Volt Charge. This is a great way to get its Spinning Attack Move ready if it needs to switch in while also freeing up your Energy Zone for charging your Active Pokemon.

If you have Magneton on the bench, this card also pairs well with Lt. Surge. While Magneton produces the Energy, Lt. Surge can redistribute it to the Pokemon on its text. If necessary, Magneton can also fight back with 60 damage using its Move, so it isn’t helpless either.

4Lilligant

A Pokemon For Those With A Green Thumb

While some Energy accelerators like to be in the Bench, Lilligant likes to be in the Active Spot. It will dish out damage, absorb hits, and power up whichever Pokemon is going to take its place when it gets knocked out.

Using Leaf Supply, Lilligant does 50 damage while letting you get an extra hit of Grass Energy for your Benched Grass-types. This can mean fueling your Venusaur ex forthe massive HPand attack power, or getting your Vileplume ready to put some Pokemon to Sleep. However, the good thing about this is that the Energy acceleration method works with any Grass-type, making the strategy flexible.

3Moltres ex

Flipping Coins For Energy

Moltres ex has some of the best Fire Energy acceleration. With Inferno Dance, you have the chance to get up to three Energy. However, unlike other cards that can only help specific Pokemon or make you commit to giving all the Energy to a single target, this one lets you distribute all the Energy that you earn in whatever way you want.

So you can get all the earned Energy and pump it into a Charizard waiting on the Bench, or distribute it evenly among different Fire-types so they can all be ready to start dishing out damage. Besides Energy acceleration, Moltres ex can also attack for 70 with Heat Blast if necessary.
