The cast of theSuper Marioseries is broad and varied with a wide range of heroes and villains alike. The Mushroom Kingdom is host to many species, each of them with their own place in the stories the series weaves.
Among these, the Mario cast has plenty of wonderful women to choose from, but a certain few are a cut above the rest. They’re near and dear to our hearts, no matter whether they’re fighting for the heroes or are going down a path of villainy.
11Wendy O. Koopa
The Only Female Koopaling
The Koopalings are seven Koopas who loyally serve Bowser, guarding his castles and doing his bidding. While six of the seven are males, Wendy O. Koopa is the only lady among the bunch.
This, however, doesn’t stop her from being just as much of a menace as her brothers-in-arms. She’s just as strong as them and won’t let anything get in her way. With her purple magic wand, Wendy is willing to try her hand at taking down those pesky plumbers while being feminine and fashionable.
10Bombette
A Real Bombshell Blonde
Bombette isthe third partner to join Marioon his adventure in Paper Mario for the Nintendo 64. As a Bob-omb, she can blow herself up to destroy cracked walls and boulders. Not even enemies are safe from her explosive power.
Bombette may not have a lot of dialogue, but what she does say shows off her character. The Koopa Bros. locked her up for being a menace, but they didn’t account for her escaping and helping Mario. She takes no nonsense from anyone and is happy to help.
9Pauline
Your One-Up Girl
Pauline might have started off by getting kidnapped by Donkey Kong, but this brunette has grown since then. By the time Super Mario Odyssey takes place, Pauline is the well-respected and loved mayor of New Donk City. She does her best to help Mario, but she has her own problems to take care of too.
When not busy with her mayoral duties, Pauline can sing and dance with the best of them. Past the events of Odyssey, she’s even decided to step up into the pro league, standing strong against the competitionin Mario Strikers: Battle League, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Super Mario Party Jamboree.
8Birdo
Villainy Can Be Fashionable
Birdo may have started off as a reoccurring villain in Super Mario Bros. 2, but this queen hasn’t stopped there. She’s joined various Mario Party and Mario Kart games to show she’s more than just an egg-spitting foe. Birdo can stand on her own among the Mushroom Kingdom’s finest.
In several of her appearances, Birdo sings for an audience with fashionable charm. Some may think she’s a little past her prime, but Birdo doesn’t let that stop her. With the help of Yoshi, she becomes part of an unstoppable, eggy duo with a fashionable flair.
7Goombella
The Spunky Goomba Scholar
Goombella isyour first partner in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. Though she was originally being harassed by Lord Crump and his minions, this Goomba gal can hold her own against Mario’s foes during his adventure.
Goombella is more than just hard-headed. She’s full of energy and has the attitude to match. More than that, she’s a brilliant scholar, having recently graduated from the University of Goom. She’s got the brains to match her brawn and, with her Tattle and Headbonk abilities, she isn’t afraid to show just what she’s capable of.
6Toadette
Always Ready To Help Captain Toad
Toadette debuted in the GameCube era as the designated partner for Toad in Mario Kart: Double Dash. She reappeared again as a tutorial guide in Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door. She’s since moved on to going on adventures alongside our heroes in games like Super Mario Bros. Wonder. With the Super Crown, she can even turn into Peachette.
Toadette faces life’s challenges with a smile. Whether she’s taking on Bowser or helping rescue Captain Toad from a mission gone wrong, Toadette moves forward with boundless optimism.
5Rosalina
She’s Out Of This World
Rosalina first appeared as the guardian of the cosmos in Super Mario Galaxy. This tall, elegant woman is like a mother to the Lumas and is deeply beloved by them. She’s hinted to be Peach’s daughter, but no one can say for sure if this is true.
Rosalina has a more calm, serene grace when compared to her fellow heroines. From fighting with a loyal Luma in Super Smash Bros. to hitting hard in the sports spin-off games, Rosalina is ready to take on the competition, no matter who they are.
4Lady Bow
Scares You Like A Lady
Lady Bow is the fifth partner to join Mario on his journey in Paper Mario for the N64. As a noble Boo, she didn’t take kindly to the chapter’s boss Tubba Blubba eating her loyal subjects. Thus, she joins Mario on his journey, promising to give him the Star Spirit if he manages to defeat the seemingly invincible monster.
Lady Bow is both elegant and playful. As a Boo, she delights in scaring others and isn’t above a little foul play - such as holding a Star Spirit captive - to get what she wants. Still, she speaks politely and has a fancy fan to both cool herself and slap her opponents silly. Lady Bow may have charm and grace, but she isn’t above hitting you in the face. We can’t help but respect that.
3Daisy
Never Backs Down From A Challenge
Princess Daisy comes fromthe far-off kingdom of Sarasaland. She may have needed Mario to rescue her in Super Mario Land, but this princess has since become an independent tomboy. Though she enjoys spending time with Luigi, she doesn’t need the green plumber to save her.
Daisy is willing to take down the competition in series like Mario Kart, Mario Party, and Mario Strikers with a loud and proud attitude to match. She was eventually made a playable hero, first in Super Mario Run and, later, in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. This princess won’t let anyone stand in her way.
2Peach
Pretty In Pink
Princess Peach isthe beloved ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom. Though she’s frequently kidnapped by Bowser, she isn’t afraid to take matters into her own hands and help in her own escape. She’s even gone on her own adventures in games like Super Princess Peach and Princess Peach Showtime.
She’s polite and gentle, which causes her subjects to adore her. However, if she needs to put her foot down and step up, this princess will happily do so. Being girly never stopped Princess Peach from standing with the heroes. Her emotions are her power, and her feminity is a strength. This princess will do what it takes to keep her kingdom safe.
