Summary

Few monsters are as iconic as the mightyGodzilla. The world’s favorite fire-breathing reptilian behemoth debuted in 1954, and his fame has yet to wane. He’s graced theaters, video games, and merchandise for decades. In many ways, Godzilla is a gargantuan cash cow. Simply slap Godzilla’s name on something and watch the money flow.

However, not everyone wants to be so conspicuous about their love for the Japanese beast. Sometimes, creators want to pay homage to Godzilla without directly tying their game to his existence. Moreover, thanks to Godzilla’s fame, he’s found his way into many unexpected places.

Now, the status of Godzilla’s appearance in Dave the Diver is up for debate. The lizardlike giant lends his name to a free DLC tie-in, so youcouldargue his presence does not constitute a cameo. However, you can also argue that theunexpected nature of Godzilla’s appearancein the otherwise cozy diving simulator may as well be a mid-game cameo.

Either way, Godzilla lends some unexpected help to Bancho Sushi’s intrepid seafood supplier. After causing multiple tremors, Dave encounters a submersible. He is then tasked with aiding Godzilla’s re-emergence to defeat an oncoming kaiju threat. That’sa lotof suspense for your everyday SCUBA diver, but Dave is always up for a challenge.

Godzilla is part of a limited-time DLC for Dave the Diver. The content is free, but it will be unavailable after July 16, 2025.

Godzilla may not be a marketing guru, but his promoters are. In 2022, the MonsterVerse franchise promoted itself with Call of Duty: Warzone’s third season. Operation Monarch offered players chances to win Godzilla-themed titles and various monstrous goodies. However, it also had cameos from the star of the show.

Godzilla appeared as an environmental hazard and a rare event in Operation Monarch. Both he and Kong stalked the maps, hampering intel acquisition. Shooting either monster rewarded additional intel and experience. Throughout the game’s third season, players could also snag Godzilla-themed skins and cosmetics.

5Ace Combat Infinity

The Ace Combat series may be the most famous of the world’s many combat flight simulators. The series has always lauded its dedication to detail and realism, so Ace Combat Infinitymay be the last place you’d expect to see Godzilla.

The monster’s appearance coincided with a tie-in promotion for the Godzilla Versus game in 2015. Trailers teased his presence, and daring pilots could discover him around Tokyo Bay.MechaGodzilla, Biolante, and Mothraalso made guest appearances in the otherwise straight-laced flight combat sim. Unfortunately, the game’s servers were discontinued in 2018; you’ll have to stick to YouTube to see this cameo.

It’s easy to link Godzilla to first-person shooters. The King of the Monsters may be known for destruction, but he’s just as famous for being defeated by a well-armed military. So, his appearance in Battlefield 4may not be a shocker.

To find Godzilla, you’ll want to open the Hammerhead multiplayer map. Run or ride to the far western edge. You’ll find a small snow village menaced by an oddly familiar snow creature along its length. However, he won’t be there by default. After finding the reference, you can — in true Battlefield style — choose to blow it up.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint has all the trappings ofa tactical shooter. You’re a grizzled special forces soldier with plenty of experience, but have you faced the world’s most feared behemoth? Probably not!

If you want to see Godzilla, you’ll need a helicopter. Fly above the nuclear testing site on the Driftwood Islets and prepare your parachute. Jump near Wild Island and scan the horizon for some narrow scaffolding. You should also see a red button and a clock. Wait for the clock to strike midnight and slap the button; your diligence will be rewarded with an appearance by the King of the Monsters!

In 2013, the Shadow Warrior series released its first entry since 1997. The predictably named Shadow Warrior game fit neatly into the popular first-person shooter genre and deftly reintroduced the series to a new generation. However, it’s not all knives, bullets, and firearms.

Of its many Easter eggs, Godzilla is one of the earliest. Upon starting the game’s second chapter, look around the rooftops. Gaze upon the majestic digital mountainside, and you’ll notice a familiar beast sliding across the landscape. And Godzilla isn’t the only reference you’ll see in Shadow Warrior. While the 2013 reboot is stuffed with references, its sequel has even more pop culture call-outs to admire.

The Hitman series has always been stuffed with pop culture references and quirky details. Its most recent incarnation, the World of Assassination trilogy, is no different. Despite his upright demeanor, Agent 47 has always had a sense of humor. He’s also willing to don unique disguises to eliminate his targets.

And you’ll need one of those disguises to see Godzilla in Hitman. After earning enough experience on the Hokkaido map, you’re able to start the level as a rooftop ninja. (Yes, seriously.) Snag a nearby sniper rifle and scan the mountains. Eventually, you’ll spot the iconic fire-breathing monster! Alternatively, you can find a sniper rifle and sneak to the rooftops.
