When Set 12 released, the Arcana trait was one of the lesser used ones inTeamfight Tactics. However, after changes and some clever thinking, a popular Arcana-focused composition rose with the goal of getting as many non-unique traits active as possible to make a super strong frontline.
This team composition revolves around two units: Tahm Kench and Varus. These two four-costs serve their roles perfectly, and making Tahm Kench the High Arcana unit unlocks a new team-wide buff that increases the health of everyone significantly so that Varus can whittle everyone down.
All Units In The Arcana Tahm Kench Team Composition
To start, here areall the unitsfor the Arcana Tahm Kench team composition in Set 12.
This late-game composition has a lot of high-cost units, andthe two main carries of Tahm Kench and Varusare likely ones you won’t see until you hit level seven or eight. Plus, this compositiondoesn’t require any emblem luck, only the rolls later in the game matter if you’re able to make it there.
Getting an Arcana Emblem can skyrocket this comp to an easy victory, and you can place it wherever you want. However, whether you get the emblem or not, make sure to make Tahm Kench the High Arcana unit. His trait modification for Arcana boosts everyone’s health based on how many non-unique traits you have active.
Another nice aspect to this composition is that itdoesn’t require any three-star units. If anything,two-starring your four-cost unitsis the goal, alongside getting most of your squad to their two-star level.
How To Level Up With The Arcana Tahm Kench Team Composition
This composition isa late-game composition, with the main goal tohit level eight as fast as possibleto get the core eight units in the squad. If you look at the list above, the core consists of every unit but Xerath, who is effectively only needed if your team is still losing without him.
As a fast eight comp, you shouldlevel up to four at 2-1, five at 2-5, six at 3-2, seven at 3-5, and eight at 4-2. This means you need tosave a lot of money earlyon, likelybetween levels five to seven, to boost yourself up to eight quicker.
Since this composition requires only two cheap units, there areplenty of options for early game unitsin this composition. Some examples areFrost units, Eldritch units, or a classic Arcana startwith Vanguards assisting.
Best Items For The Arcana Tahm Kench Team Composition
In this team, thetwo key units that need items are Tahm Kench and Varus, butBardis a good unit to throw items on early on in case you aren’t hitting those two carry units in the shop.
Tahm Kench
Tahm Kench isboth your tank and your biggest stun, so the shielding fromProtector’s Vowis key, but it also lets Tahm cast his first stun quicker.
Varus
As an attack caster, the goal for Varus is to get his ability to deal the most damage while also getting him to cast his massive ability as often as possible. The two crit items do the damage, while theSpear of Shojinmakes him do it more often.
Bard
For Bard, any magic items suit him early on, but the best ones areBlue Buff to get him to cast more often, as well asMorellonomicon to get those Burn effectson plenty of foes quickly.
Thankfully, this team composition doesn’t need as many items as other ones do. In fact, having just one of these items on each of the carries can still lead to victory, because the goal is to get them to two-star more than getting them the right items.
Extra items can go to plenty of units, likemagic items on Ahri, tank items on Rakan, andphysical damage items on Hecarim.
Lastly, the positioning of the team is relatively simple, but has one key thing to remember. Putall of your tank units, Hecarim included, in themiddle of the frontline, specifically withRakan on the middle-top hex. Then, wherever your enemy places his carryunit, whether on the left or the right, move your Tahm Kench to matchit, either one hex to the left or the right of Rakan.
Then, simply placeBard and Varus in the corners, while placingAhri and a potential Xerath in the middle of the back row.
