Summary
As well as finally allowing you to take control of Zelda,The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdomgives you access to a unique staff that lets you create echoes of objects and monsters found throughout the game. With the amount of echoes you can find, and open-ended situations to use them in, it can be easy to let the ‘most used’ filter do most of the work for you.
However, if you take the time to experiment with your echoes, you may discover there are many unexpected uses beyond their description in the menu. This is also true for monster echoes, which can be surprisingly powerful and more helpful than you initially realize, or just as promising as advertised.
10Electric Keese
Out of all the keese creatures you can learn in Echoes of Wisdom, the electric keese has the most utility in combat compared to the fire or ice keeses. The electric keese automatically stuns anything that it hits, except for other electric type monsters, which also causes them to fall straight to the ground.
This is useful for dealing with most flying enemies that are usually too fast for crows or too high for ranged monsters to aim at, and in rift dungeons you’re able to grab stunned enemies and easily drop them into the void. However, the high cost of the Electric Keese means you’ll only ever have one summoned at a time.
Combined with a drippitune, electric keeses become much stronger as the rain gives them a static aura.
9Crawltula
One of the few monster echoes that can climb along any surface, including the ceiling, crawltulas are rather quick and attack more frequently than most echoes. This means you can constantly resummon crawltulas to create an endless army of spiders that charge enemies.
This is the best way to deal with climbing enemies, as flying creatures can tend to get stuck or miss their target, while crawltulas make a straight beeline along any angled surface. A trick that makes up for their low damage and health is that you can bind yourself to one immediately after summoning it to scale walls.
8Fire Octo
Dealing more damage than a regular octorok and more useful than an ice octo, fire octoroks deal an impressive amount of damage while firing frequently enough to potentially prevent enemies retaliating. The fire rocks they shoot are also effective against certain enemies that are weak to them, like ice monsters.
Unfortunately, octoroks aren’t great at firing anything above or below them, making them best used when fighting enemies in lava or on equal footing. In certain puzzle rooms, fire octos are able to light braziers from a distance, which would usually require multiple echoes to accomplish.
7Chompfin
Out of all the echoes that can swim underwater, the chompfin is the strongest one, and you can summon up to two simultaneously. In the underwater section of theNull boss fight, chompfins are almost required in order to beat it.
The only downside to chompfins is that they require water to work, but the fact that they charge to attack immediately after being summoned makes them useful in emergency situations beneath the waves. Their one weakness is electric enemies underwater, but finding one is fairly rare in Echoes of Wisdom.
6Boomerang Boarblin
Despite having a level two version of itself, the base level boomerang boarblin is the best land-based monster echo when used six at a time. This triples the number of level two boarblins you can summon yet more than triples the damage output.
Compared to spear moblins, boomerang boarblins have two hits per attack, and attack much faster than spear moblins. With six boarblins all throwing boomerangs simultaneously, few enemies can last more than a handful of seconds against the endless barrage, as long as you have the space to summon them.
5Sword Moblin Lv. 3
While six boarblins all throwing ‘rangs can stack a lot of damage, the level three sword moblin is much better at taking hits and dealing powerful strikes to more resilient enemies. The shield also protects it from ranged attacks like from spear moblins or octoroks.
The shield is the sword moblin’s saving grace as it moves quite slowly and would most likely die to stronger enemies without it, but allows it to survive much longer than most other echoes. This will also likely be the first level three echo you achieve, opening you up tomore dangerous areasto explore.
4Lizalfos Lv. 3
Most level three echoes have powerful attacks, but long intervals between them which make them weaker than they should be. However, the level three lizalfos attacks both frequently and can cover a lot of ground with one jump. This is perfect for fighting other lizalfos, which tend to jump around a lot, or other fast moving monsters.
The only problem with the level three lizalfos is that it can get overzealous with its jumps, causing it to get trapped between awkwardly placed objects or move further from your target than when you summoned it. However, its powerful spear attack is enough to defeat most enemies in one strike.
3White Wolfos
Three summons in one, the white wolfos is a slightly bigger version of a wolfos that also summons two regular wolfos to fight alongside it. The combined cost of these echoes separately is more than you will ever have throughout the game, yet also leaves you with an additional charge.
Since wolfos move incredibly fast, this is ideal for hunting enemies spread out among moblin camps or chasing down moldorms. The white wolfos’ one weakness is against enemies with a rapid attack pattern, as it will likely prevent it from being able to howl and summon additional wolfos.
2Darknut Lv. 3
An armored beast of an echo, the level three darknut is immune to certain attacks and has a high amount of health. The darknut’s main attack of spinning in a circle with its axe makes it perfect for when you are surrounded by enemies, since most will be defeated after one swing.
This echo is best forany boss fightabove water, as it won’t die after a hit or two and will quickly bring you through the multiple stages by itself. The only downside to the level three darknut is it can move rather slowly, which could be a problem in certain environments and dungeons.
1Lynel
Moving as fast as a wolfos with the most powerful attacks in the game, the lynel is easily the strongest echo in Echoes of Wisdom, which makes sense considering it costs a full six charges. This also means getting the lynel echo in the first place is very tricky, requiring you to have powerful echoes already.
Even if you use level three darknut echoes, you will have to resummon multiple times in order to succeed. However, as soon as you have access to six echo charges, the lynel becomes an unstoppable ally against almost every type of foe you’ll come across on your journey to save Hyrule.
you’re able to find the lynel in the Eternal Forest by following hoofprints along the ground.
