Spellblades are possibly the most violent Specialization a Mage can choose inDragon Age: The Veilguard, as it embraces the way of the sword instead of forgoing it as the others do. Spellblades see their dagger as a key part of their arsenal, not as a last ditch resort to be used in emergencies - and so need the Skills to help.

While the use of Electricity makes this class similar to Bellara’s Mage talents, the combat-heavy approach is very different, and highly unique. Here, we’ll look at how to get the best out of the Spellblade Specialization, as well as what Sustain and Burst Skills can take you to the next level.

Spellblades bring death quickly to their enemies, which means the Skills you grab aid you in dishing out maximum violence as quickly as possible. In this Specialization, you rely on lightning and cold, hard steel to get the job done.

Thunderous End is a fantastic, storm-based Ultimate, while Void Blade combines the two core ingredients of your Specialization. Then Finale and Deterioration give a boost to all of your attacks, and Veil Fury ties your magical talents to your sword fighting to devastating effects.

Spellblade Mages are the most front foot Specialization, so need Skills that suit that style of play, and they can find it in Burst. Adding to the elemental possibilities of the Specialization and allowing you to hit harder, Burst Skills help build a fearsome Spellblade.

Tempest is a great Ability to have, especially with Chain Lightning in the bag, and lets you dominate with electrical storms. Amperage is a major help with that, as is Precision Strikes. Then Reclamation just makes each victory a little sweeter, and Killer Instinct goes well with the melee attacks involved in Spellblade combat.

Spellblades pack and punch, not content to swirl around magic sticks away from danger, but rushing into the fight itself. The Sustain Skill tree can help with that, and make you an all-powerful force on the battlefield whether near or far. Basically, wherever you are.

Return Fire is a necessity for melee combat, while Inner Focus means every attack is benefiting you in some way. Meanwhile, Elemental Executioner and Wraith all work perfectly with the rapid attacks of melee combat. Then you have Veil Blasts, which goes hand in hand with Void Blade.
