Summary
When you level up inMetaphor: ReFantazio, you will accumulate some points, which you can allocate to different stats based on your playstyle preference. They will make your victory easier by granting you certain advantages, and they make a huge difference if you are playing on higher difficulty.
The Archetypes you choose to studyfor your characters, will also greatly depend on your allocated stats. So, you will want the correct stats on your Protagonist to match the builds and team compositions you choose for them. This list ranks the game’s stats based on the bonuses they provide and their utility in battles.
5Endurance
Allocating some points in the Endurance stat will improve your ability to withstand the enemy’s attacks without losing a lot of HP. It’s particularly helpful in difficult boss battles, especially when they hit you with all sorts of powerful moves when you least expect it. It may also save you the trouble of equipping your characters with the best armour possible before you visit any dungeon.
Using the Healer Archetype with a high endurance character will increase its sustainability in battle, which will help your team get regular healing consistently.
Endurance gives you a little breathing room, as you may get saved by a small fraction of the remaining HP after taking a strong hit. This will allow you to recover your health and use other items in battle. Endurance may help you act as a tank for your team, as you may take damage from enemies, while you are standing at the front. However, this stat is barely useful in Storyteller difficulty, as you can just revive at the same point where you died in battle.
4Luck
Allocating some stats points in luck will give you certain benefits including the game AI working in your favor. You will end up getting luckier in battles which might just give you some crucial wins at the last moment. Finishing off an opponent with a lucky critical hit when you have little HP left can be very satisfying.
You will also have higher chances of inflicting enemies withstatus ailments. These can give further disadvantages to your enemies, which can make the fights much easier, especially if you are playing on harder difficulties. Luck will also improve your chances of getting more items during dungeon crawling.
The Gunner Archetype works well with Luck as it can inflict a few types of status effects on the enemies, including Sleep and Poison.
3Agility
As the name suggests, Agility makes you more nimble during your battles, which means that you will be quicker to avoid enemies' attacks. This can probably save you from powerful attacks without having to guard, saving you a turn if you are willing to take your chances. Being Agile, opponents will have trouble evading your attacks, which means you can use high-cost MP skills without worrying about wasting it.
Agility will also allow you to run away from unnecessary battles. This strategy is useful when you want to refrain from fighting, especially when your health is low. You can also flee to prepare for boss battles if you don’t want to waste your resources battling against mobs while trying to clear a dungeon.
2Magic
You will be using Magic often to beat bosses and strong enemies, as they are harder to beat unless you hit them with an element they are weak to. However, utilizing it might be a bit tricky, and you will find yourself depleting your MP quite often, which will cause you to take several breaks while trying to complete a dungeon.
You will deal physical damage with most skills that you can use with Archetypes which you own in the beginning, so it can be a little underwhelming until you obtain the Mage Archetype. That said, Magic skills are powerful and deal tremendous damage, which can help you defeat Elmenta, who tends to flee the battle quickly. It also increases damage by Elemental Synthesis moves, which are stronger than your regular magic skills.
1Strength
The Strength stat affects your raw physical power in the game and increases the damage dealt by your weapons.Managing your MPcan be a little challenging, especially when the battle prolongs too much. If you cannot cast any magic skills anymore, your Strength will pave the way to victory by finishing off the remaining health of your enemy.
Strength works well with Brawler, as you’re able to damage enemies greatly with physical moves.
You can beat low-level enemies quickly with your melee attacks, which will preserve MP for boss battles while you are exploring a lengthy dungeon. Strength also increases the physical damage dealt by Archetypes, but you will need some HP to use these skills. They hit harder than most melee weapons, and are a great substitute to magic attacks.
