Summary

Dead Rising Deluxe Remasterbrings back all of your favorite Dead Rising moments. From jumping off the helicopter to driving a car through the tunnels in an attempt to hit 53,594 zombie kills, it’s all here. Of course, there are also some moments that are back that didn’t make sense in 2006 and still don’t make sense in the remaster.

These curiosities range from the whereabouts of certain unruly survivors to layouts in the mall that have no reason to exist other than to further the plot. Here are things that just make no sense in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.

Ed Watches Frank West using binoculars.

10Where Was Ed Deluca Hiding All This Time?

A Sneaky Helicopter Pilot

Getting to Willamette was Frank’s first real challenge. Soon after he finishes his initial shots of the town, the military attempts to intercept Ed’s helicopter. Frank is able to get away and Ed leaves for the next three days.

However, where was Ed Deluca hiding this whole time? He is later shown watching the mall rooftops and lying low, but getting back into town shouldn’t have been as easy as the first, right? With how much security Willamette and the Mall have during this time, it’s surprising he was able to pull if off twice.

9When Did Frank Get Infected?

It Was Bound To Happen

One thing that never made too much sense is how exactly Frank got infected. Sure, Frank needs to plow through countless zombie hoards to get his story, but there is never any explicit moment that shows he might have been infected.

If anything, the most prominent moment it might have happened is when he first encountersa Zombie Queen. He swats it away and steps on it, but it is possible he might have gotten stung. Regardless, Jesse is bitten later, and her transformation takes roughly around 24 hours, the same as Barnaby’s.

8How Did The Convicts Get The Humvee Into The Mall?

One Killer Boss Battle

While most of the Psychopaths in Willamette have weapons and vehicles that they might have easily found in the Mall setting, the Convicts are a different story. They appear in the park area riding a Humvee that is actually somewhat of an anomaly.

If you go around the mall you will find that there is no place where the Convicts could have squeezed such a large vehicle into the property. Even then, there is no military presence in the mall till much later. So how exactly did they get this vehicle onto the premises? Who knows.

Brad discovers that he is surrounded by zombies in the dark.

He’s Already Dead

Brad’s death comes at the hands of Carlito, who leaves him to die within the parking lot tunnels. The last time we see him in one piece is when he realizes that he is surrounded by zombies in the dark. The next time we see him, he is disemboweled but still alive.

Despite meeting his end at this time, how did Brad survive so long after being torn apart by zombies? One could assume he fought his way out, but it is still surprising that the hoard didn’t simply devour him until there was nothing left.

Frank and Isabella stare at the zombie pit beneath the clock tower.

A Strange Escape

One of the biggest problems for Frank and Isabella in Overtime Mode is their method of escape. An answer presents itself when Ed’s helicopter crashes into the clock tower, revealing a tunnel that leads out of the mall.

There is never any explanation as to why this tunnel is here or why it seemingly has a staircase that would normally lead towards a dead end. Interestingly enough, this path also conveniently leads right out of town. It seems like a coincidence and too good to be true.

5How Did Isabella Make The Vaccine?

Turning Mall Junk Into A Working Lab

Creating a cure for a zombie virus is no easy feat to accomplish. Luckily, Isabella already has experience in a lab and creates a suppressant that would later become Zombrex. However, how exactly did she create the suppressant using only mall products?

During Overtime Mode, Frank is tasked with gathering some supplies, including Queens, a first aid kit, and coffee filters. Everything combined somehow gives Isabella the equipment needed to successfully create a zombie suppressant. It seems as if Isabella pulled an Iron Man considering the circumstances, and it is no surprise she would later be put to work for Phenotrans.

4When Did The True Eye Cult Begin?

More People Survived Willamette

The True Eye Cult isa strange organizationthat exists within Willamette. Headed by the Cult leader Sean, this Cult is known for sacrificing non-believers for their cause. It also seems that they have an endless supply of survivors willing to throw themselves at you.

This organization didn’t just spawn from the outbreak but merely grew in power during the events of Dead Rising. The book, Brainwashing Tips, is shown to have been written and distributed by the True Eye Cult, suggesting that they existed long before the town succumbed to the Zombie apocalypse.

3Where Are The Psychopaths Hiding When Their Mission Isn’t Active?

Camera Shy Psychopaths

While Frank West is running around collecting scoops, he always has the security room to go back to during his downtime. It’s where most of the survivors hide while they wait to be rescued. So what about the Psychopaths of the game? Where do they go?

It seems the Psychopaths just appear whenever they want to and usually, they show up when Frank is notified of their existence. Until then, they seem to just be around causing chaos in parts unknown. Who else they encounter along the way is a mystery.

2How Did Frank Escape The Finale?

Screaming In Frustration

After Frank defeatsthe final villain, Brock, on top of the tank, there is just one question that never gets resolved in the game. How did Frank escape the dam? Both Frank and Isabella find themselves surrounded by zombies in vehicles that presumably either don’t work or Frank can’t operate.

However, Frank does escape and manages to tell his story. While this initially does not make any sense within the game, the comic book ‘Road to Fortune’ dives deeper into Frank’s escape and a deal he makes with Homeland Security to be able to publish his story.

1Where Did Madonna Go?

Zombies Don’t Eat Animals Apparently

It seems that Zombies don’t eat animals, otherwise Madonna would have been devoured long before her owner foolishly opened the door and let the zombies into the mall. However, how exactly did Madonna even get left behind in the first place, and what happened to her afterward?

Madonna just disappears, but according to Barnaby’s confession, Zombie Queens do have some effect on livestock, therefore they should affect animals to some capacity. Perhaps it’s best this remains unexplained, otherwise, there will be parrots and poodles roaming the mall.
