Summary
Warpfrog, the developers behind VR hit Blade & Sorcery, have revealed the first details about its next game, including that it will also be “highly moddable”.
Without a doubt, Blade & Sorcery isone of the most iconic and beloved virtual reality games of all time, standing next to titans likeBeat Saber,Half-Life Alyx, and Boneworks. What sets Blade & Sorcery apart from that crowd, however,is how much it supports modding and lets players do pretty much whatever they want to it.
Want to get rid of the medieval fantasy aesthetic and give everything a Star Wars makeover? You can do it. Want to wield the Blades of Chaos from God of War?Not a problem. If you can think it, there’s likely a mod out there that can make your wildest VR dreams come true, something that’s going to carry over to developer Warpfrog’s next VR game.
Blade & Sorcery Dev’s Next Game Will Be Just As Moddable
Blade & Sorcery’s latest update, Nomad, is its biggest one yet and also marks the final “major” update for the game as a whole. Now that development is over, developer Warpfrog has shared a few details about its next project, although it’s not quite ready to show the game off properly or reveal its title.
Following the release of Nomad, Warpfrog has begun working on a new VR game that will be a physics-based simulation and use the studio’s new framework Thunder Road 2. Perhaps the most important detail for fans of Blade & Sorcery, though, is that it’s already confirmed to be “highly moddable”.
We don’t yet know what exactly it is we’re going to be modding, but considering how important that scene has been to Blade & Sorcery’s success, it’s a good sign of things to come. Warpfrog also confirmed to us that the new game will be “more ambitious” than Blade & Sorcery but still retain the same “feel”. It’s probably safe to assume it’ll be a weapon-based first-person game, then.
Although we might not learn anything about Warpfrog’s next game for some time as the team works away on it, what we have learned should be more than enough for Blade & Sorcery fans to have something to look forward to now that development is finished with Nomad’s release today.
