Summary

Last night, Sony confirmed thatHorizon Zero Dawn is getting a remasterafter just seven years, andBloodbornefans really, reallyaren’t taking it well.

The top post on the subreddit right now is a simple declaration that the HZD remaster “is real”, with a picture of Hunter-ified Gru looking over his army of Minions. “Part of me thinks this is a joke, there’s no way,” reads one comment. “I f***ing hope the sales are excruciatingly low,” another says. “We are born of the copium, made men by the copium, undone by the copium,” a third fan writes.

The second highest-upvoted postisn’t handling the news much better: “F**k you Sony. That is all”. Comments are “confused” as to why Sony has left the series dormant for so long, speculating once again about lost source code and the closure of Japan Studio putting a dent in any plans, while others set their sights further afield, believing that maybe, just maybe, they’re waiting for the PS6. Maybe it’s time to move on, eh?

Why The Community Is In A ‘Beast Roar’

There are a few reasons why the Bloodborne community is upset at Sony’s radio silence: a big chunk of the fanbase wants to see a sequel or remaster, taking us back to Yharnam after nearly ten years. Others just want a PS5 patch, while some are waiting for a full-blown remake.

I don’t think Bloodborneneedsa remaster— like Horizon, it’s still a relatively modern game that doesn’t show its age too much — but a big reason so many fans want to see it given a new lick of paint is because that would mean a PC port. Horizon already has one, as well as a 60fps patch for PS5, which makes the new remaster all the more confusing. Bloodborne, on the other hand, hasn’t been updated since the The Old Hunters DLC.

And so the copium continues. But if you’re really itching to try it on PC,fans are making strides in emulation, so a fully playable version of the game on desktop with mod support and 60fps isn’t a Hunter’s Dream anymore. It’s just not officially sanctioned by Gehrman.
