Summary
EveryBorderlandsgame starts witha different group of Vault Hunters, while the last bunch become more fleshed out characters within the story. The very first four, Mordecai, Roland, Lilith, and Brick, are mainstays and icons in their own right at this point, but fans wouldlovea chance to play as them again all these years later.
Cue modder EpicNNG, who is working to make Mordecai completely playable again inBorderlands 3.
In Gearbox’s latest mainline entry, you may either play as Zane, Moze, FL4K, or Amara, another new group. But EpicNNG has nearly finished adding Mordecai — who is the sniper option in the original game — as a fifth option.
He Even Has His Own Skill Tree
Mordecai doesn’t appear much in Borderlands 3; only once in the mission Hammerlocked in which he, Brick, Tiny Tina, and the Vault Hunter are hired by Wainwright Jakobs to rescue the namesake Sir Hammerlock.
But that does mean there’s an up-to-date model that EpicNNG can use. How this mission will work exactly ifyouare Mordecai, on the other hand, I’m not sure — maybe there’ll just be two of you.
On top of an up-to-date model, EpicNNG has put together a complete skill tree for Mordecai that appears to be based on his original one, but they are also ensuring that the scaling “feels good” throughout Borderlands 3. A lot has changed since that first game, so this will be important to ensure that he still fits in and is satisfying to play.

WHERE TO PLAY
Borderlands 3 is a looter-shooter in the vein of its predecessors, where players aim to incrementally upgrade their arsenal through completing missions, defeating enemies, and upgrading skills. Set on the planet of Pandora, your aim as a Vault Hunter is to take down the Calypso siblings and save Pandora.
