Summary

Back in August, one of the gaming industry’s worst-kept secrets —Borderlands4 —was finally revealed via a minute-long trailer at Gamescom Opening Night Live. In that same trailer, a 2025 launch window was confirmed, making it the first mainline Borderlands game in roughly five years.

However, in the time since then, details about the game have been extremely scarce. We do know that there will be four Vault Hunters, as is tradition, and that they will play on the fantasies that players have. And there was a batch of concept art revealed, too, showcasing a neon-like aesthetic. But outside that, things have been quiet.

Now Gearbox’s own Randy Pitchord has taken to social media to tease a highly-requested feature. That feature is seamless loading.

Please Elaborate, Randy!

Taking to Twitter, a Borderlands fan reveled in the fact that their brand-new PC was able to load 2012’s Borderlands 2 faster than anticipated. That fan mused about the possibility of seamless loading, a feature that could be a “reality someday.”

What that fan wasn’t expecting was Pitchford to reply in the comments, writing simply: “Seamless, you say?”Unfortunately, when asked to elaborate, Pitchford said that he “will absolutely elaborate” before vanishing into the Internet ether.

Despite numerous pleas, Pitchford has not elaborated on his seemingly innocuous tease. That said, it would be surprising if Borderlands 4 didn’t have seamless loading of some kind when it did launch. Given that current generation consoles make use of an SSD over an HDD, along with all of their advanced components, it only makes sense the game would run faster.

Still, it’s nice to see that some news could be on the horizon.Based on the tumultuous year that Borderlands as a franchise has had, any positive news is worth celebrating.
