Summary

One week on from the release ofCall Of Duty: Black Ops 6players continue to make discoveries about what you can and can’t do in the series' latest installment, as well as improvements Treyarch has made to the game. One of the expectations with each passing CoD is that it will feel more real than the last, and the water physics in Black Ops 6 have contributed to checking off that box this year.

Jumping into a body of water and venturing under the surface is a great way to escape an enemy in Black Ops 6, provided you pop back up when it’s safe and before your oxygen has depleted. Turns out there’s a third way to die while bobbing about in Black Ops’s water outside of drowning and being taken out by an enemy, and it’s a self-inflicted one that has been thrust into the spotlight by Reddit user, IceVeinz77.

The Black Ops player retreated into the water when being shot during a multiplayer match in Lowtown. A smart move as not only did it shield them from the enemy’s fire, but a teammate who can be seen jumping over the river into which they dropped to take the focus off them while they recover. As well as resting up until they were ready to pop back up, IceVeinz77 decided to try and throw a grenade up and out of the river on the off chance it would take out their rival.

Don’t Throw Grenades Underwater In Black Ops 6

It Will Almost Certainly End Badly

In a prior CoD game, that would have been a smart move too. However, it was at this moment the player discovered the team behind Black Ops 6 has made some upgrades to the series' water physics. Instead of the grenade flying out of the water and onto dry land, it travels a few inches out of the thrower’s hand before slowing dropping down alongside them and exploding, finishing the wounded player off.

IceVeinz77 not only shared the clip on the Black Ops 6 subreddit to give fellow players a laugh, but also to serve as a warning. However, even though the latest Call Of Duty is only a little more than a week old, turns out quite a few of you have discovered trying to throw grenades while underwater is a no-go. A fun detail, and it’s little imaginative tweaks like this that will go a long way in continuing to make Black Ops 6 one of the best-regarded installments in the series' recent history.

The discovery that throwing grenades underwater should be avoided is joined bythe return of the chicken noisewhen you consider prestiging but then chicken out, another little detail that put smiles on a lot of your faces. All contributors to Call Of Duty and Game Pass having a long and successful relationship afterMicrosoft’s CEO claimed this has already been the biggest launch in Call Of Duty history.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

WHERE TO PLAY

Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. With a mind-bending narrative, and unbound by the rules of engagement, this is signature Black Ops.
