InReynatis, you play as an eclectic group of characters, from magical law enforcement to those few trying to survive in a world that oppresses those who use magic. It’s a varied group, though for those of the group that exist outside the purview of the law, hiding their identity is paramount.
If you’ve ever Liberated yourself in the middle of Shibuya, you’ll have seen your Trending status skyrocketing immediately, and it isn’t long before the MEA has you cornered and locked into a losing battle. The MEA Elite Wizard they send after you seems almost impossible to defeat. Almost impossible, but not quite.
How Does The Wanted Level Work?
In Reynatis, you have two modes -Suppressed, and Liberated. While Suppressed, you cannot attack and certain items are invisible, butyou can explore freely and slow down time to dodge. While Liberated, you move faster, can attack, and see hidden items, butanyone who sees you will immediately report you to the MEAfor detainment. It’s a delicate balancing act.
You canreset your Trending rank by either exiting the current areaor standing in a Hiding Spot. Just ensure to Suppress yourself first.
From the very moment you’re Liberated, your Trending rank will start to grow, and your stress along with it.Once this rank hits number one, you’ll be locked into a battle against the MEA Elite Wizardand a squadron of other MEA officers. If you’re defeated, you’re graciously allowed to simply continue as if you never fought the battle, rather than reloading your last save.
While the game makes it sound as though your Trending rank increases as people see you Liberated,it actuallygrows the instant you become Liberatedregardless of whether or not anyone sees you.
Recommended Party Build And Tips
The MEA Elite Wizard will be very strong in the early game, though they will become considerably easier as you level up and build out your party. Though the game does not state the level of enemies, the Elite Wizard and their party can be assumed to be somewhere around level 60, so you’ll need to be something similar if you want to stand a fighting chance.
Here’s what we’d recommend for your party to beat them for the first time:
The core tactic to beating the MEA Elite Wizard is, as obvious as it sounds, taking them down as quickly as possibleso they don’t have a chance to take you down first. To do this, you’re going to want tobuild up your combo meter high quickly and pull off a Final Menaceto take advantage of the damage multiplier. Here are some Wizart abilities we’d recommend to help you with this.
Ukai and Marin should equip theAnole Reinforcement and Hound’s Slashskills respectively as this can build up your combo meter very quickly. Other than that, try to keep your Stress lowbefore entering battle so you have higher defense and use defensive items from your inventory.
How To Beat The MEA Elite Wizard
Once you are locked into the battle with the MEA Elite Wizard and their squad, you’re there until one of you is dead. For the early sections of the game, this can seem exceedingly difficult, thoughthe MEA Elite Wizard remains at the same level for the entire game. This means that, with a high enough level, you can firmly stand toe-to-toe with them, and eventually dominate them entirely.
The layout of the squadron can vary slightly, though this will be its primary make-up:
They will start a distance away from you and will begin bybombarding you with ranged attacks, be they lasers or fireballs. As such, make sure you’re Suppressed immediatelyso that you can dodge these with ease. You’ll likely be dodging for a while, so try toweave your way closer to them with each dodge. Once you’re close enough, your dodge will bring up the Magic Circle and allow you to finally start your assault.
Taking down the Wizards and Soldier is same-as-usual as they have no special movesets, though they are still quite strong. The Elite Wizard doesn’t deviate too much from an ordinary Wizard either, though they have one specific ranged move they use that causes them to glow purple. This means the attack will not activate the slowed time effector the magic circle, so instead give yourself some distance to more easily dodge when you see them turn purple.
Beyond that, there’s no special trick.Take advantage of the slowdown effect from a Burst Liberation as often as possible, and spam Final Menace every chance you get to whittle them down more quickly. They hit hard, somake sure you have plenty of healing items at the ready. Other than that, you’re all set!
There’s no special reward for beating the MEA Elite Wizard other thansome EXP, materials, an achievement, and the satisfaction of a job well done.
