Age Of Empires Mobilecurrently has eight different civilizations available: the Chinese, British, French, Byzantines, Romans, Egyptians, Japanese, and Koreans. Each has a unique civilization bonus that will impact different parts of your playstyle, from extra archer defense while being attacked to an increase to the number of villagers you can have working at any one time.

You may want to change these civilizations as you progress in Age Of Empires mobile, and this can easily be done at the expense of some Empire Coins. But if you’re unsure of what to pick - and when to change - this tier list should help you get a better idea of which civilizations work the best.

Age Of Empires Mobile Civilization Tier List

Here’s a ranking of the best civilizations in Age Of Empires Mobile.

B

Chinese - S-tier

The Chinese civilization is an S-tier starter civilization because of that extra villager capacity.More villagers means more resources, and more resources means faster progress in the early game. You can use villagers to increase resource production and build time of various buildings.

The walls durability is also useful as you might face quite a few attacks once you hit level 10 town and open up your lands to invasion from other players.

Korean - S-tier

The Korean civilization specializes inlooting quickly with large cavalry armies. Just like how the extra village capacity in the Chinese civilizationcan speed up your game, the fast-paced Korean playstyle is also a way to get resources quickly - this time from exploration missions and other players.

This is made possible by that larger loot limit and storage protection rate, to prevent other players stealing your bounty.

Japanese - A-tier

The Japanese civilization is a solid pick for new players, although it begins to drop off a bit later on because of its pretty small boosts. Early, though, that 10% boost against world tribes is great for getting your exploration rank upand gives you something to do with your idle armies.

Roman - A-Tier

The Romans are a decent civilization during the early game, but it’s nothing too powerful. The healing speed increasecomes in handy later on as you play more of the game, but that resource production +30 is quite useful to get started.

French - B-Tier

The French are better used later in the game where that resource exchange rate can have more of an impact - you likely won’t be using the marketplace too much when you first start playing.

Gathering troops defense is anokayboost, but again, this won’t be useful until later in the game.

Byzantines - B-Tier

The Byzantines come with buffs to siege warfare and stone gathering via exploration. Siege warfare won’t be hugely important during your first few days in the game and stone gathering is a minimal buff.

British

The British have a very defensive playstyle in mind, hoarding food through mill production and exchanging it for other resources. If you’re being attacked by a large army, it might make sense to quickly change to the British for that 10% citadel defense bonus. However, they are a bit slow to get started early on.

Egypt

Egypt is all about minimizing your losses and improving your gains from gathering in the world. However, this is quite slow at the start of the game - units don’t take very long to heal at the beginning, and you won’t have much carry capacity as it is.
