Summary

One of the first enemies you come across inDark Souls 2is a big naked ogre. Its signature attack? Slamming down on you with itsderrière. You find one before you even make your character, and two along the tutorial path guarding a coffin that changes your gender.

What if you could flip the script andplayas the ogre? Thanks tothe Debug Manager mod, now you can.

As shown off by YouTuber Illusory Wall, you can use this mod to take over enemies near your character. Naturally, they piloted the ogre in Things Betwixt, ground pounding with those flabby grey cheeks.

Playing through one of these games as an enemy sounds like an incredibly exciting challenge run — just imagine an ogre versus the Rotten — but there’s one major problem.

You Can’t Play Through The Full Game As An Ogre

As explained by Illusory Wall, the mod allows you to take control of enemiesnearthe player, temporarily. So, if you stray too far, you’ll lose control, which means that you may’t drag the ogre all the way from Majula to the Iron Keep.

Perhaps we’ll see modders rise to the challenge and make enemies fully playable, but for the time being, it’s just a fun little experiment. Although, some fans have other ideas on how this tool could be used, like invading other playersand taking control of enemies near them, jumping between them like a ghost when killed.

Fans are clearly excited by the opportunities this mod provides. Perhaps we’ll see PvP expanded by the community, or maybe we’ll be tuning intoa Twitch streamer beating the gameas a little undead boar, eh?

WHERE TO PLAY

Dark Souls 2 follows the player character, an Undead human cursed to become a Hollow, as they attempt to reverse this impending doom. Like previous FromSoftware titles, it thrives on its difficulty and gothic fantasy world.
