Summary

Dead Rising Deluxe Remasterhas made an interesting and long-requested change to the Hall Family Psychopath battle, as players can now spare Thomas.

For the most part,Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is a very faithful remakethat keeps most of what was in the original game andmakes some much-appreciated improvements to the core gameplay, such as adding auto-saves, a weapon durability meter, and a whole lot more. There are a few things that have been changed around, though.

We’ve already talked at length about how Larry has been redesignedand how"that" photo category has been removed, but there’s another very interesting change that players are discovering now that Deluxe Remaster has launched. Unlike those other two, it’s something that fans have been requesting for a long time.

Most of Dead Rising’s Psychopaths are pretty unlikeable and dig their own graves, but there are a few exceptions to that rule. The most notable of these is Thomas Hall, who actively doesn’t want to shoot Frank or any other humans and tries his best to stop them from senselessly killing people.

In the original game, Thomas' unfortunate circumstance wasn’t really addressed at all, as Frank had no other choice but to take him out alongside his family despite not really deserving it.As pointed out by YouTuber BOON Syndication, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster changes this by letting the player spare Thomas and leave his fate in his own hands, something that fans have been wanting to see for nearly two decades.

Of course, youcanchoose to kill him if you really want 20,000 extra PP. I won’t judge…

If you fight the Hall Family and leave Thomas for last, he’ll chuck away his gun and drop to the floor in anguish, giving Frank the chance to talk to him. Thomas will explain to Frank that he didn’t want to fight him and that he didn’t agree with what his family was doing, which leads Frank to offer him a spot in the Security Room.

Sadly, Thomas won’t take Frank up on the offer and will instead choose to stay with his brother and dad. It’s unlikely that Thomas survives the events of Willamette Mall considering all of the zombies and what happens to it later with the Special Forces cleaning up, but it does at least take some of the guilt away from the player and is a really nice little detail.
