Summary
Hideo Kojimawas atTokyo Game Showover the weekend to tell the world Stranding 2. Rather than a simple trailer, that included footage seemingly picked at random from the game and a musical number. It also included the reveal ofan in-game jacket you’re able to own in real life. Bad luck if you’re only learning about this now asthe jacket sold out instantly despite its $1,700 price tag.
Kojima and Kojima Productions worked with Acronym on the jacket which went up for sale on the latter’s site shortly after it was revealed. You might have thought that at 1,540 euros ($1,720), even those watching the reveal live would have been put off whenseeing the price on Acronym. Apparently not, and while I’m sure there likely weren’t many available in the first place, for a jacket that costs that much to sell out almost instantly just goes to show how much people love Kojima, not to mention how highly-anticipated Death Stranding 2 is.
That the DS2 jacket is a high-quality piece of clothing shouldn’t be overlooked either. Sure, $1,700 is about 30 times more than I’d personally ever spend on a coat, but there’s no doubt the jacket is of the highest quality. It’s made by Acronym, for starters. A high-end fashion brand that drives up the cost of anything with its name on it. Its lightweight material combines comfort with warmth, andit’s available in either black or orange. Well, it was available in black or orange.
Death Stranding 2 Doesn’t Have A Release Date, But It Does Have Merch
Super Expensive And Ultra Rare Merch
If you like the look of the Death Stranding 2 jacket, and the lofty price tag hasn’t put you off, unfortunately, I can neither confirm nor deny whether there will be more of them in stock in the future. It feels a lot like a limited item that was used to generate some hype during TGS that might never return. On the other hand, one of the in-game photos shared over the weekend that you have likely seen on social media features four of the game’s main characters all wearing the Acronym jacket.
With that in mind, it would make a lot of sense for another wave of jackets to be released around the launch of Death Stranding 2 as more players see it in trailers and the game itself. Then again, when was the last time Kojima did something logical? The man thinks on a different plane than everybody else. As for when exactly Death Stranding 2 will be here, it’s still on target to be here in 2025, but Kojima notedan exact date couldn’t be revealed at TGSdue to “unforeseen circumstances”.
