There are many parts that makeThe Legend Of Zeldaseries iconic. From Link’s tools to the dungeons he explores, the series has plenty of aspects that make it stand out so well. One of the most important of those are the enemies. No good dungeon can stand out without some stellar enemies protecting it, now can it?
The Legend of Zelda is a pretty long series too, one that has been going on for a good few decades now. Enemy numbers fluctuate across the games, and sometimes pretty dramatically. Well we’ve ran the numbers on just about every mainline entry in the series and are ready to tell you just which game has the most enemies of them all.
This article only accounts forrecurring enemies, rather than bosses.
Which Zelda Game Has The Most Enemy Variety?
Think to yourself for a minute about which Zelda game might have the most enemies. Would it be Twilight Princess, with its increased focus on combat? Perhaps Ocarina of Time to celebrate the shift to 3D. Or maybe it’s A Link To The Past, a game that is so dense with content it has two overworlds to explore? Well it’s actually none of the above, andthe answer might be a slightly surprising one.
The Zelda game with the most enemy variety isA Link Between Worlds. And besides the game in second place, it’s not a tight race. Witharound 110 enemies in total, including variants, A Link Between Worlds is positively packed with enemies to battle. That’s what happens when you expand the Dark World into a whole new kingdom of its own, Lorule.
Fittingly,A Link To The Pastdoes have the second-highest number of enemies, witharound 101. The next runner-up is tied between the Oracle games and Twlight princess, which all hoveraround 80-90 enemies.
Which Zelda Game Has The Least Enemy Variety?
You’ve probably already got a game in mind when it comes to this one.Breath of the Wild is circling around in your mind, and while it may be on the lower end of the series in regards to just how many enemies it has, it doesn’t have the least variety.
The crown for the least enemy variety goes to the very first game in the series,The Legend of Zelda released way back in 1986, with just 45 enemies. For the very first game in the series to have the least variety is a pretty understandable situation, and a good sign that the rest of the series never drops below that number either.
It was, however, a very close competition. The Wind Waker comes in with a total of 47 enemiesthereabouts, putting it dangerously close to the very first game’s numbers. After that would bePhantom Hourglass, a sequel to Wind Waker, with a total ofabout 56, a significant jump over both Wind Waker and the original Legend of Zelda.
