Summary
We’re reaching unprecedented levels of excitement forDragon Age: The Veilguardas the long-suffering fandom now only has to wait nine more days. Naturally, additional tidbits about the game are beginning to filter out from people who’ve played the game.
A dump of information was recently released byJorRaptor, an RPG-focused content creator who has played The Veilguard. As BioWare has conducted a hefty marketing campaign ahead of the game’s release, most of the information put forth by JorRaptor is already out there in the world. However, there is one new morsel of information.
Dress Up With The Veilguard
“Some outfits only unlock depending on your choices during a companion-specific quest line,” the post reads. We knew companions had multiple set armours but we didn’t know some of their outfits were locked behind their personal quests. It’s reminiscent of Mass Effect 2, where alternate outfits are unlocked by completing loyalty missions. In this case, the unlocked outfit is likely decided by a choice the player makes at a climactic moment in the quest.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard adopts a similar approach to Dragon Age: Inquisition regarding armour. Companions have an armour slot, a ring slot, an accessory slot and a weapon slot. A lot of the gear in Veilguard is tied to a specific companion, or Rook, meaning only a specific character can equip specific gear. There is also atransmog system, where you’re able to transfer the stats of one outfit to another to become more powerful while maintaining a desired aesthetic.
This is all conjecture, but a fair assumption would be that the armour unlocked by personal quests is an upgrade over the companion’s base armour. Also, perhaps the nature of the choice that Rook has to make affects the stats on the companion’s new costume. If you encourage them to do something immoral or callous then maybe the outfit will have offensive stats, while a benevolent decision could have more defensive or supportive stats. That’s all just guesswork, of course.
Alas, we’ll all have to wait until October 31 when Dragon Age: The Veilguard releases to play dress-up with our new companions.
