Dragon Age: The Veilguard Trailer Revealed At PlayStation’s State Of Play
This acts as a good example of The Veilguard’s new combat system, which is much more action-focused than what we got in previous games. Right off the bat, we see the player character, Rook, ducking to dodge attacks, while trying to land some of their own. We also see them line up abilities with the pause mechanic, allowing for some tactical gameplay.
In terms of the narative, we also get a look at the Grey Wardens, as they join Rook in the fight against Ghilan’nain and her blighted creatures. The Wardens get absolutely decimated though, it seems, as they often do.
This is our first new trailer sinceearly previews of the gamewere shared last week. So far, the reception has been mostly positive, with those who got to play The Veilguard early describing it as a return to form for BioWare, after the studio struggled to find its footing after the success ofDragon Age: Inquisition.
The Veilguard, or more accurately, a fourth Dragon Age game of any kind, has had a notoriously turbulent development. An original version of the game wasreportedly scrappedand then envisioned with live service elements -before this was cancelled tooin favour of something that can be played completely offline.
It seems that this has worked well for BioWare so far. While most fans haven’t had a chance to play it themselves,EA has said that there’s a “strong demand” for The Veilguard, with early sales figures falling “within expectations”. Of course, we’ll have to wait and see if this is reflected at launch, but it’s a good sign after the series laid dormant for so long.
Dragon age: The Veilguard is set to launch on October 31. It will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
