Summary

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s producer, Jun Furutani, has confirmed that the game will launch with 12 maps and fans aren’t happy that several important ones are missing.

With over 180 characters spanning across every saga of Dragon Ball, a mode that lets you create your own custom battles, andgameplay mechanics that go far beyond what was seen in Budokai Tenkaichi, Sparking Zero is already shaping up to be the ultimate game for fans of the series. There are a few minor things that are less positive, though.

We’ve already talked about the lack of crossplayand the fact thatsplit-screen co-op is limited to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, but there’s one more negative that has popped up in a recent interview - the number of maps. Since Sparking Zero has been revealed, fans have wondered if certain iconic locations were being kept secret, but it seems that isn’t the case.

Dragon Ball Fans Aren’t Happy With Sparking Zero’s 12 Maps

Since Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero was revealed, there hasn’t been all that much focus on the game’s number of stages, but it was recentlyconfirmed by the game’s producer, Jun Furutani, during an interview with IGN that it’ll launch with 12 maps overall. Furutani implied that more could be added to the game after launch, but it’ll only have 12 on October 11.

Most of the maps have an evening and night variant as well, which does at least add some more variety.

While that seems pretty reasonable considering the record-breaking roster, it’s something that fans have expressed a little disappointment with.Over on the Budokai Tenkaichi subreddit, Redditor Legal_Anything_6883 said that it’s Sparking Zero’s “first L” and pointed out that a number of important stages are missing from the game, such as Beerus' Planet, the Glacier, Kame House, and more.

This sentiment has been shared by many Dragon Ball fans over the past few days, including Twitter user dbzvariety who shared a wishlist of potential future locations, such as King Kai’s Planet, Snake Way, and Planet Vegeta. While most of those would be new to the series, most fans seem to have an issue with the stages from the original trilogy that have been left behind.

Some fans have also pointed out that stages like theUniverse 6 Arena, Hell, Kami’s Lookout, and Space are all big omissions considering how many battles take place there. While it does feel a little greedy to ask more of Sparking Zero considering how much itdoeshave, it’s a fair point and something a lot of fans have expressed.
