Summary
A dataminer has dug into the files ofDragon Ball: Sparking Zeroand found evidence for a bunch of characters who were either cut from the game or are being saved for post-launch content.
With a record-breaking roster of 182 characters that covers every part of Dragon Ball, it feels greedy to expect anything more of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. While it’s true that the number of fighters is incredibly impressive and shatters Budokai Tenkaichi 3’s record, there are a few characters who are clearly missing.
We’ve already talked about how Super 17 is strangely not part of the GT crewand how Goku (Teen) is the only true representative of OG Dragon Ball, but there are a lot of other characters who could have made it in, even if they’re smaller than the playable ones we got. It seems that there might be some hope forfighters beyond the Daima and Super: Super Hero additions, if a datamine is to be believed.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Datamine Hints At Upcoming Characters
As highlighted by Twitter user AwarenaNoAyoub_ andoriginally discovered by MondoMega on Bluesky, Sparking Zero’s files seemingly have hints towards a bunch of characters who aren’t currently in the base game. It’s not clear when these characters were cut and if we might see them in the future, but it does at least hint that they were considered.
The most interesting of these (in my humble Dragon Ball-loving opinion) is the OG characters such as King Piccolo, Pilaf Machine, Chi-Chi, Grandpa Gohan, Mercenary Tao, and Nam. It seems that nearly everyone was considered at one point, which makes it a little strange that only Goku (Teen) made it in.Here’s hoping that we get a pack of OG content if nothing else.
Strangely, Arale is nowhere to be seen in the datamine, suggesting she was never considered for Sparking Zero.
The datamine also suggests that a bunch of Super characters like Jaco, Mai, Champa, Vados, and even Zen-Oh were all considered for Sparking at one point or another. Budokai Tenkaichi classics like King Vegeta, Fasha, Pikkon, and Supreme Kai can also all be seen in the list, which makes it a bit of a shame that they never made it in.
It’s really not clear so far whether these characters have been removed at some point in development or if their data is in the game and will eventually make it in as DLC, but it’s worth noting thatJun Furutani previously said that only three expansions were planned so far. That could easily change considering how well Sparking is doing, and there’s clearly a lot that could make it in.
