Summary
If you thought thatDragon Ball: Sparking Zerocould not get any cooler after everything that Bandai Namco has revealed so far, then think again. That’s because,as part of a larger blog post about the game’s massive roster and unique fighting styles, it’s been revealed that Scouters can break during combat, just like in the anime.
For starters, the Scouter is an iconic Dragon Ball item, and the exact source of the iconic “It’s Over 9,000!” meme.According to Bandai Namco, certain characters will have the Scouter accessory as an equippable item, like those aligned with Frieza or Planet Vegeta inhabitants like Bardock.
The Scouter isn’t just for looks, either. Characters with the Scouter accessory will “grant a boost of search radius when equipped, depending on the quality of the scouter equipped.” It’s unclear what “quality of the scouter” means, though it could mean that Bardock, who died long ago, has a weaker accessory than say Raditz.
Either way, the Scouter can help players locate their enemy, even if they are out of sight. But just like in the show, the Scouter can break, and when it does, it’ll become difficult to locate your opponent. The Scouter system is justanother example of Bandai Namco going above and beyond to make the game as lore accurate as possible.
Hit ‘Em With The Floss, Goku!
As a final note in the blog post, characters in Sparking Zero can emote. By pressing the —> button and assigning it to a character before a fight, the character can perform “cool stances.”
In other words, don’t expect Kid Trunks and Goten to hit the Griddy before a match, though stranger things have happened. After all,Trunks was shown saying “No Cap” to Vegeta in a pre-match intro. But rather, characters will likely have unique stances and stretches that they can perform, helping to once again make the game feel as close to the anime and manga as possible.
Either way, the hype could not be more real. Only 14 days separate us from Sparking Zero’s long-awaited release. We’ve made it this far, so 14 days can’t be that hard, right?
