Summary

In the time since Dragon Ball Super’s anime went off the air in early 2018 following the end of the popular Tournament of Power Saga, the manga continued on stronglybefore Akira Toriyama’s untimely death. Those arcs, which have yet to be adapted into an anime, introduced several new characters into the world of Dragon Ball, as well as multiple new forms.

That said, withDragon Ball: Sparking! Zero’sOctober launch month rapidly approaching, many fans have been wondering if any of those characters, forms or storylines could make their way into the game via future DLC. After all,the game does have a confirmed season pass that will bring Super Hero and Daima characters into the game.

However,as part of an interview with IGN, Jun Furutani, the game’s producer, revealed whether that will be the case. The short answer? No.

It’s Extremely Complicated

When asked if there was potential for the likes of Granolah and Moro appearing in the game, Furutani had this to say through an interpreter:

“At this point, the short answer is, it’s difficult for him to talk about these things. Yeah, yeah. Due to various situations. I’m sure you understand.”

While the answer is probably a bummer for passionateDragon Ballfans, it makes a ton of sense. First and foremost, there’s no doubt that everyone involved with the gameis still dealing with Toriyama’s passing. Usingcharacters he had a hand in prior to his death, this soon likely feels wrong.

On that same note, because these are manga-exclusive characters, there is likely a lot of difficulty in determining just how they will look animated. That’s not to mention voice acting in both a subtitled and dubbed capacity, which has likely not been discussed.

That said, assuming these arcs eventually do get animated, and assuming Sparking! Zero receives a sequel or support beyond its first year, then there definitely is a lane for a playable Moro and co. Still, even without them at launch, Sparking! Zero is shaping up to be the game of dreams.
