Summary
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s online multiplayer mode basically reveals how powerful each character on the roster is by giving them a specific cost to use in battle.
With characters ranging fromlowly earthlings like Mr Satan to all-powerful gods like Beerus, one of the biggest questions surrounding Dragon Ball: Sparking Zeroever since it was announced is how it would balance its massive roster. The truth behind that is that it really doesn’t, as each fighter is as powerful (or not) as you’d expect them to be.
That’s a lot of fun in single-player fights, but it would raise some big issues in multiplayer if everyone was just going for Base Cabba.Spike Chunsoft has countered this by enforcing some rules on team battlesthat give each and every fighter on the roster a certain cost to include them on your team, which can only have up to 15 points in ranked battles.
Sparking Zero’s Online Basically Reveals Everyone’s Power Level
While this is mainly just to keep Sparking Zero’s online matches as balanced as possible, it does also give us a very good idea of how powerful each character is, at least in the eyes of Spike Chunsoft. With power levels being such a big discussion in the Dragon Ball community, this is the closest we’ve gotten to an official source in some while.
Twitter user Vohris shared a handy tier list of the cost of using each character in Sparking Zero, which tells us whereabouts they are on the pecking order. For example, Mr Satan costs one point to use, while weaker fighters like Videl, Saibaman, Frieza Soldier, and Master Roshi (somehow) all cost two.
If you’re wondering, Base Cabba costs five points while Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta costs 10.Guess that settles that debate, huh?
The middle of the road characters like Krillin and Yamcha all cost three points, even though Tien is one step above at four. Things get even more interesting as you look at the more powerful fighters like Gogeta and Vegito Blue, as well as Whis and Beeurs all cost ten points each. Mastered Ultra Instinct Goku, Full Power Jiren, and Full Power Super Saiyan Broly are all nine points each.
While it’s not an exact science by any means and more speaks to their power in-game (how is Tien above Krillin, I ask?), it’s interesting to see what Spike thinks are the most powerful and weakest characters on the Dragon Ball roster. Let’s hope we see this list come up in any potential power level discussions in the future.
