Summary

Animefans of a certain age will almost assuredly remember the days of YouTube AMVs.An AMV or Anime Music Video is a fan-made video featuring some of anime’s best fights or scenesset to the track of a popular song, usually something rock related.

These videos were popular for multiple reasons. First, they were an easy way to watch some of the best moments of an anime fight without having to slog through filler or dialogue or finding the anime in the first place. Second, they represented another way to listen to some of music’s best bands, like Linkin Park and Three Days Grace.

Flash forward to today, and these videos are remnants of a bygone era.Streaming has allowed fans to watch almost any anime anywhere, while bands like System of a Down and Breaking Benjamin have become internet memes for some of their looks and lyrics.

That said,a new modfor the recently releasedDragon Ball: Sparking Zeroaims to bring back the era of AMVs, and it is epic.

Goku Is Totally A Shinedown Stan

The mod, which is appropriately named “DBZ AMV BGM Pack,”replaces the base music of Sparking Zero with a playlist of selected iconic AMV tracks. Those tracks range from the stylings of Linkin Park to Evanescence, with other bands mixed in throughout.

Unfortunately, the mod is pretty limited at the moment. It currently doesn’t replace the Main Menu or Sparking Mode music, only the Game Battle tunes. It remains to be seen if the original creator plans to add to the mod, or if they plan to fix the issues with replacing the Main Menu music.

Still, it’s an epic addition to what is already an epic game. Anytime you’re able to get Ultra Instinct Goku and Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta duking it out to “Bring Me To Life,” it’s a win in our books. Long live the AMV!
