Summary

The latest “Great Trailer” forDragon Ball: Sparking Zerohas finally confirmed for good that characters from Dragon Ball GT will be on the roster at launch.

From the momentDragon Ball: Sparking Zero was first revealed as the long-awaited fourth Budokai Tenkaichi game, fans of the series have had one big question - would characters from Dragon Ball GT (which is often regarded as non-canon and brushed away by Toei) be making it into the roster,or would Super Saiyan 4 Goku, Vegeta, and Gogeta be saved for DLC?

Sparking Zero’s roster has always been one of the biggest talking points of the game, but considering how much it focused on Super and Z, it seemed unlikely that we’d get everyDragon Ballseries represented in there. It’s been teased and talked about a whole bunch over the last year, but the latest trailer for the game has finally confirmed it for good.

Dragon Ball GT Characters Are Officially In Sparking Zero

Earlier this week, Bandai Namco teased that a new trailer for Sparking Zero was going to be released, called the “Super trailer”. That might sound like it just focuses on Super, but it was also referred to as a “Great Trailer”, which many took as a tease for GT. Well, I’m happy to report that is indeed the case.

The latest Sparking Zero trailer kickedoff by teasing that it was going to be about Super, before quickly pivoting to the surprise reveal that it’s actually about another series entirely. Once that was over, though, we got the reveal that we’d all been waiting for, as GT characters were shown to be on the roster.

From what we’ve seen in the trailer, that includes Goku GT, Super Saiyan 4 forms for Goku and Vegeta, Omega Shenron, Majuub, and even Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta. It’s not thefullroster of GT fighters and misses some out like Syn and Eis Shenron, but it’s still a very big win for a game that seemed like it might miss them out entirely.

Considering how long fans have been asking about GT being in Sparking Zero, it’s a big win that they’re not being turned into DLC like they were for FighterZ. It would have made sense to do that since SZ focuses so much on Super and Z, but it shows just how wish-fulfilling the fourth Budokai Tenkaichi is aiming to be.
