Summary
Dragon’s Dogma 2’s latest patch has added Casual Mode, an easier difficulty that balances some of the more tedious aspects ofCapcom’s critically acclaimed RPG.
Firstly, Casual Mode reduces the price of staying at an inn. This makes restoring your health points, saving the game and changing vocations at an inn a less expensive affair. Another one of the adjustments in Casual Mode is that ferrystones are cheaper, allowing players to fast travel without breaking the bank.
A More Casual Experience
Casual Mode is rounded out by a larger carrying capacity tolerance, less stamina being expended when dashing out of battle and the loss gauge not increasing when loading your last save after dying.
Interestingly, in Casual Mode, pawns afflicted with the Dragonsplague will not trigger a ‘Devastating Calamity’ even after their illness reaches the terminal stage. You can understand how a trusted follower suddenly turning into a giant dragon and destroying a town isn’t exactly a casual Dragon’s Dogma 2 experience.
There are dozens of other changes in the patch, including several balance changes to each vocation and pawn adjustments. Also included are performance updates, the most important of which are intended to reduce CPU overload. Players who have played the new patch have been reporting improved framerates and performances in Dragon’s Dogma 2’s built-up town areas. You can read the full patch noteshere.
You can change from Normal Mode to Casual Mode mid-game, but not the other way around. There are also certain trophies you can’t earn in Casual Mode.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is one of the games that will be patched with the release of the PlayStation 5 Pro. The specifics of this patch are unknown as Capcom has only stated the patch will take advantage of the console’s new features.
