Dragon Temple, which soon gives way to Drakongrace Shinjuku, combines to form by far the longest dungeon up until this point inMetaphor: ReFantazio. It’s deceptively simple at first; even the sprawling Labyrinthine Path is straightforward once you catch on to what’s going on with it.

But once Drakongrace Shinjuku begins, the several remaining floors are pretty easy to get turned-around in. Between the numerous inoperable lifts to fix, the eerie Homo Orelons to avoid, and an overarching sameness to your surroundings, we knew we’d need to make a guide to help folks navigate as smoothly as possible. Here’s how to get through the Dragon Temple.

Notes

Treebeast Alento

Weak toFire. Fairly low Defense. Enough Fire attacks will clear it in a single round.

Gold Elmenta

Weak toWind. As with all Elmentas, it willfleewhen its turn comes up, butit’s worth a lot of MAG.

The first time you come here, you will be unable to progress into the temple. Once you’ve acquired thePotion of Blight, however, you’re able to return to theDragon Temple, commencing this massive dungeon in earnest.

For all the pomp and circumstance, the battle with aTreebeast Alentohardly qualifies for a boss fight, or even a sub-boss. Check our analysis in the table above.

Given the sheer size of this dungeon - which won’t be apparent for a while - we’re going to focus on getting youall treasure chestswithin the Dragon Temple, rather than every little blue orb item. These are always rudimentary - that is to say, far easier to acquire.

The Canopy Chamber in Metaphor: ReFantazio.

Enter thecorridor, slashing down the veritable legion ofweak enemies that won’t require a squad battle. The bugs here are heinous; it’s easy to get overwhelmed by them and take unnecessary overworld damage, soevade as needed.

Go norththrough the area after scouring both small “wings” for scattered items.

Drakongrace Shinjuku in the Dragon Temple in Metaphor: ReFantazo.

At first glance, the Labyrinthine Path will appear overwhelming. It consists of adimly-lit, gargantuan, roomwith a fiendish feature: step too far in the wrong direction, andfog will gather.

If too much fog gathers - that is to say, ifyou go the wrong direction for a while-you’re sent back to the beginning of the room. We felt a little overwhelmed at first; it quickly became apparent that this was actually quite easy.

A portion of Shinjuku in Metaphor: ReFantazio’s map.

Keep your camera pointed upwardexcept when dodging overworld enemies.A glowing path on the ceiling will lead you in the proper directionvirtually the entire way through the Labyrinthine Path, making precise instructions on our part counterintuitive. Justfollow the path.

As for treasures, theTranquil Trilbyis in thebottom-left cornerof the room. Thetop-right cornercontains aFirebloom Signet. Both are easy to obtain.

Flipping a switch at the Dragon Temple in Metaphor: ReFantazio.

The exception is the treasurenear the entrance. Look for thestone slab that begins its message with “Mortals are all but lone shards of Mother Earth.” This isnorth and slightly east of the treasure, and relatively easy to get to.Follow the east wall down and aroundfor thePaladin’s Mace.

Theone time things will still get a little confusingis whenthe glowing path splits in two directionstoward the end of the area. You cantake either routeand you’ll get to theCanopy Chamber, however, which is where the story marker is located.

Shinjuku Steel Rendezvous in Metaphor: ReFantazio.

Canopy Chamber

After the cutscene, save your game with Plateau. Eupha has “joined”, albeit as a guest who won’t appear in battle. Our goal is toproceed deeper into the temple.

Returning to the Labyrinthine Path onceEupha has been found in the central chamberwill prompt her to explain the meanings behind the many slabs and murals you will have had the chance to interact with along the way.

Metaphor: ReFantazio Magla Flower in Dragon Temple.

From Plateau, head to the northeast exit, opening the door into anotherarea filled with weak enemiesto plow through. This entire section is alinear path that navigates further “inward”,which includes a handful of brief cutscenes.

You’ll need to go through a couple more doors before the Canopy Chamber is over, but it’s arguably the most straightforward portion of the dungeon after the simple corridor at the start.

Shinjuku Ghost Town of Dreams in Metaphor.

Homo Orelon

The peculiarear-shapedenemies. They hit hard and fast with multipleparty-wide damagemoves. They lack a specific weakness and should generally beavoided at all costs. It’s not that they’rehardso much as not worth getting into entanglements with.

Consider everything up until this point a calm prelude, becauseDrakongrace Shinjuku: A Bounty of Relics is the start of the more complicated portion of the dungeon.

Begin bymoving west along this passage, then south as the passage turns.

Open thedoor with the treasure chest marked inside itfor the first of manyMagla Flowers. It will spawn scores of weak overworld enemies. The chest containsAlabaster Mail, with 250 DEF and a purifiable designation. It’s pretty good for right now.

Furthereast from the Magla Flower roomis aMagla Hollowto save in. Proceeding north from here will simply loop you back to the entrance, so instead,go south a little, toward the story marker,to trigger a cutscene.

Ignore the lifts for now. Thesoutheast door(on the opposite wall from the lifts) is your introduction to the strangeear-shaped enemies, Homo Orelon. These creatures, as Eupha describes, only move whenyoumove. However, they have pre-set paths.

We want toavoid battling things as much as possible, so study the monsters' pathing. The rewards are simply not remotely worth the effort of wasting resources on these. Their routes willgrow more complexfurther in the dungeon, but for now, it’s easy.

If you’re able to view theabove image, your map should lookroughly similar to oursat this point.

In this room with the firstHomo Orelon encounter, take thelong east pathtoward the quest marker. Clear out the weak enemies in this new segment and go througheither of the doors along the east wallto reachanother room with lifts.

Once again, ignore the liftsfor now;explore the passage along the eastern perimeter and take the north staircase down.

Ostoflo

UsesCursed Fogto hit with party-wide Dark-elemental damage. AbsorbsDark. Weak toFire and Light.

UsesFire Fangfor single-target physical Fire-elemental damage.

Crag Manjula

UsesWar Cryfor party-wide lowering of Attack and Defense. Weak toStrike. UsesThunderstrike Thrustfor physical Electric damage andIce Stingerfor physical Ice. Can steal the decentRock Lion Cuirass.

From hereon out, you’ll encounter increasing instances ofoverworld enemies that run rapidly up and down corridors. The snake creatures (Benepetia) nearby are a sterling example. You can easily dispatch them so long as youchase them when they’re rushing away from you.

Bewareambushing Ostoflosat theends of corridors, oftenright near blue item treasures. They can spring up rapidly, giving them the first turn in squad battles.

Left of the staircase you entered throughis an exclamation mark on the map pertaining toa switchthat opens a nearby door. Flip it. Once the door opens,go south and through the door.

Follow the passage toanother Homo Orelon. You can always tell you’re coming up on one because they’ll be designated on the mini-map via apink enemy iconthat’ll quite clearly move only when you move. If you time it right, you canflip this switch without combat.

There’s a treasure chest with theChef’s Mittsweapon for Brawlers nearby, but once that’s grabbed, your map will (hopefully) look similar to the pic above (which you can hopefully view).Cross the corridor leading west from the opened door, taking care tostun the Crag Manjula.

Again, follow the path, which should lead to adoor with a switch nearby on its opposite side. After flipping this latest switch,go south, traveling along this corridor that spans west, then north, then east.

Be mindful ofyet another Homo Orelonhere once you begin moving east. Use thelittle alcove to the north at about midway through the passageto escape its track.

Open the doorup ahead.Pass the path to the right and go up and to the left insteadto reach a spot withtwo Homo Orelons. Carefully pass them by to reacha staircase at the top-left corner of The Steel Rendezvous' map. Descend!

UsesHell Thrustfor moderate single-target physical damage. RepelsLight. ResistsSlash.Weak toStrike.

Homo Stormmu

UsesRaging Potto deal low single-target physical damage but also make the targetweak to all elements. Will then target the affected party member withelemental spells. ResistsIceandLight. Weak toSlash.

Psyocro

UsesSoul Screamto gain four (!) turn icons, thenBreath of Battleto raise its Attack and Defense by two stages.Hellboundis a single-target physicalStrikeattack, andSlam Thrustis party-wideStrike. Powerful Pulverizeris single-targetStrikewith what appears to bea high damage output. Weak toWind.

Movesouth, and you’ll see some new enemies:Homo Fizic and Homo Stormmu. When the path soonforks east and south, goeast first, passing the staircase which leads up. You will soon come face-to-face with yet another new enemy, the giant,Psyocro.

Further east isa pair of Magla Flowersto destroy:one near the top of the room and one near its bottom.Use caution, asthe Psyocros can wander into the scenewhile you’re handling the Magla Flowers.

Open the door along the wall to the eastand note that you’ll now start encounteringtooth-type enemies that can ambush you about as easily as Ostoflo. They’ll sprout up from the ground, especially near blue item treasures.

Keepnortheastuntil you reach the exclamation mark on the mini-map.Flip this switchto open two doors simultaneously; aHomo Orelonwill appear nearby once you’ve done so.

Letting it pass you by (or fighting it, I guess) leads tothe first of many greenish-yellow “???” items containing lore from the old world. After this, the rest are clearly designed forusto deduce, at least to a point, whereas the party fails to do so. They’re worth checking out, one and all.

At this point, your map should look similar to the one below.

Headsouthto explore some more, going left rather than rightin this next wider spot to grab a blue item, thengoing rightinstead, which leads toanother two roaming Homo Orelons.

Follow the Homo Orelons' trajectory roughly midway between themto avoid being spotted as you snake around to theswitch, flipping it to proceed further eastward.

Alternatively, allow yourself to get into combat with one, then flee, which, if successful, will remove it from the map for a while.

Two switches are ahead; one of whichopens the next door further eastwhile the othersimply opens a lower door very closeby while closing the east door. This is as such becauseanother Homo Orelon will emergeonce the east door is opened. Kite it along or fight it.

Check back soon as we continue to update this guide through to the last sections of the Dragon Temple!
