Summary

In case you weren’t aware,EA Sports' annualized NHL title,NHL 25, entersEarly Access on September 27, which is just 11 days from now. And if you weren’t aware, then we could hardly blame you.

That’s because, unlike EA’s other sports franchises, including the return ofCollege Football, NHL 25 has had little to no marketing.

That lack of marketinghas NHL fans worried about the game’s potential state. For reference, NHL 25 will be the first hockey title that will be current-gen only, having officially ditched last-gen. In other words, that should, in theory, be a big deal, but, to this point, that hasn’t been the case.

Where Did All The Information Go?

As of this writing,EA’s official NHL YouTube channelhas just two videos uploaded. The first is areveal trailerthat was shared three weeks ago, and the secondis a “Deep Dive” posted 11 days ago. That’s it.

Neither video is particularly long, with both adding up to about five minutes worth of coverage.

Things over on Twitter aren’t much better, either. The gamewas revealed on August 22, and outside toutingthe game’s cover athletes, as well aspre-order information, there isn’t too much to glean about the overall game. In recent days, there have been Player Overall reveals, though that’s pretty standard fare.

It would appear there are more Tweets pushing preorders than there are for actual in-game features.

EA’s official website has a blog post dedicated to some presentation updates, but blogs for HUT (Hockey Ultimate Team), as well as other game modes, have yet to be posted.

Fans Are Left In The Dark

Via a thread shared on the EA_NHL subreddit, fans are wondering what exactly is going on behind the scenes. “If they had anything good to show us, they would [have] showed us by now,“one fan lamented.

Meanwhile, another fan believes this is the worst build-up to an NHL game, making it hard to justify the cost for them. “Honestly, this might be the worst buildup to a NHL game I’ve ever seen,” the user wrote in part. “The “improvements” they’ve made aren’t enough to justify $90 Canadian, especially when we can’t even get an online franchise mode. It’s actually more inexcusable this year since they’ve only focused on the current gen.”

The rest of the thread isfilled with similar sentiments, withfans warning each other to not preorder in an effort to send a message. It seems unlikely that the game will experience any sort of delay, especially this close to Early Access. That leaves everyone wondering what exactly is happening before release to warrant this.
