Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtreeis widely considered to be one of the best expansions of all time. Even CD Projekt Red, who put out The Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine expansion tipped its hat to FromSoftware, cementing the expansion’s reputation. While the new Land of Shadow region was itself brilliant, the introduction of Messmer was the icing on the cake.
Messmer’s character is brilliantly designed, not just physically, but also in how he’s connected to the overall lore. He quickly became a favourite, especially for one fan, who entered a contest by Bandai Namco and won a ten foot tall statue of him.
In The Embrace Of Messmer’s Flame
Reddit user KiteTales showed this massive statue off on the Elden Ring subreddit, and it’s everything you’d expect. The statue of Messmer is about ten feet tall and includes his spear, along with his snakes coiled around his body. Suffice to say that it occupies a lot of space. Thankfully, they seem to have enough space in one corner of their house for The Impaler.
While it is undoubtedly cool, a ten foot statue is bound to be inconvenient when it comes to finding room. Thankfully. Messmer isn’t as foul looking as Mohg or Morgott, so they didn’t have to hide it in the sewers like Marika did to her own children. However, she did abandon Messmer in a hidden realm, so that’s not much to go by.
The comments on the pictures of the statue were quite funny too. One asked if they were willing to part with the statue, to which KiteTales replied, “For the right amount of Runes!” The thread went on until someone else commented, “You’re abandoning him faster than Marika!” It’s safe to say that Messmer has found a better home than Marika ever gave him. In fact, the owner later commented, “He’s allowed to watch all the trash TV that Marika forbade him from.”
No matter how awesome that statue is, a ten foot tall FromSoftware boss has got to be one of the most intimidating things you can put in your living room.
While he makes for a great way to scare off home intruders, Messmer the Impaler wasnowhere as tough to beat as Promised Consort Radahn. The final boss of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, Radahn is considered the hardest boss to beat in the game, and one of the hardest in all FromSoftware games. So much so thatthe devs had to nerf himby removing his first charging attack.
