It’s all come down to this. Our heroes head into the lion’s den - what was once the seat of power within the nation of Euchronia - to put an end to Louis' schemes inMetaphor: ReFantazio. As befits such a grand locale, Skybound Avatar is vast, and filled with foes.

We’re covering the enemies you’ll face, the treasures you’ll find, and providing a breakdown of each of the Sky Avatar dungeon’s unique sections, as they all bring something different to the table. Additionally, we’ve provided a link to our page on Skybound Avatar’s fierce boss battle against Melancholia Zorba.

Notes

Homo Luma

Weak toFireandDark. Has high Agility to start with, and usesFishy Fandangoto elevate its Hit and Evasion rates even further.

Platinum Homo Tenta

Absorbsall elements, so use Slash, Strike, Pierce, and/or Almighty.Toothbrushdeals mediumAlmightydamage to all party members. Can also castLightandDarkmagic spells.

We begin at theRoyal Palace Entrance, but this is your standard “chat with your party members and/or visit More” room. Head inward for theFront Parlour, the first real zone at Skybound Avatar.

The Royal Garden in Metaphor ReFantazio.

Almost immediately, you’ll seethe way splits east and west. Start bygoing west.TheHomo Lumashere are the latest fish-type enemy, so they can be annoyingly swift to ambush you - make sure they’re turned around before approaching.

Grab theGold MedalandMagla Candelabrablue items, but be cautious, as a new variant of those peskyexploding squid enemieswill be stationed all along the walls in this area. There are also newgargoylesto contend with.

Casting Emerald Vortex on Grotesque Chimenzahn in Metaphor ReFantazio.

TheSuperior Tainted Twohanderblue item not far past the Magla Candelabra should be appraised ASAP the next time you’re in a town, as there’s a good chance it’ll be a powerful weapon.

Continue north on this west wing of the parlour until you reach atreasure chest with the Sealed Gauntletsinside. Once you’re done here, return to the entrance hall and go eastthis time instead.

More blue items here - frankly, there are mountains of them throughout Skybound Avatar, so we’re going torefrain from mentioning every blue item- but in a room similar to the treasure room on the east wing, there’sProletariat Abacusinthischest.

The key difference here is thatthis room connects on its west wall to a new area, so head through the door. A cutscene will trigger; with the staircase here blocked off, we’ve no choice but toenter the lower-level door.

Homo Flaemo

Weak toElectric. UsesBreath of Battleto raise its Attack and Defense stats to their maximum.

Dark Elmenta

Weak toLight. Like all Elmentas, itflees on its first turn, so eliminate it swiftly.

Bloodcoin Imitec

Weak toLight. As with other Imitecs, you canspend reeve to distract it, but at this point in the game, you probably don’t need to.

Voidblack Homo Orelon

These serve as minor sub-bosses. Weak toElectric. No other weaknesses nor resistances. CastsMamudodynefor party-wideDarkdamage and uses powerful physical attacks likeMad Rush.

You’re immediately thrust into battle against aHomo Flaemo, the Skybound Avatar’s version of those big-eared human monsters from the Dragon Temple. More sprout up throughout thisRoyal Garden, butwe want to avoid needless fights with them.

The interesting thing about the Royal Garden, and it honestly makes these easier to avoid than the Dragon Temple’s, is thatthe Homo Flaemos are all within a sprawling garden maze. It’s pretty easy to deduce which routes to take to evade them, even if it seems overwhelming at first.

Theeastern side of the garden has plenty of mudthat must be waded through. This is less of an impediment toward enemy ambushes than it may appear; remember thatrolling forward hastens your speed through swamps.

The first blue item on the east side is theMemento Hairpin, which has a DEF of 125, raises Magic by 5, and prevents Forget - so, well, don’tforgetto pick it up.

If you need to, you canrun back and forth on the grassy patches(such as the one with the Memento Hairpin) until the Homo Flaemos reverse course. They won’t get to you on solid ground.

You have twin goals in the Royal Garden:the elimination of the two Voidblack Homo Orelons, one of which is at the ends of the east and west paths, respectively. As much as the party seems surprised when getting rid of one doesn’t work, it’s pretty clear what’s going on here!

Treasures In The Royal Garden

The following treasure chests can be found in these approximate locations:

Sub-Boss: Grotesque Chimenzahn

When you’ve finished dispensing both Voidblack Homo Orelons, head forward into the middle roomthat’s now accessible, and you’ll faceGrotesque Chimenzahn.

Grotesque Chimenzahn

This is more of a “real” sub-boss. Weak toIceandWind. It usesBreath of Battleto raise itsAttack and Defenseto the max and can alsoheal itself, which will naturally slow the fight down by a couple of turns. It can castGaboutto deal highFiredamage to the party.Rendis a severe physical single-target attack.

After the fight, you’ll be back in theFront Parlour, butthe staircase is cleared. Go through the newly uncovered door, cross the bridge over the Royal Garden, and you’ll arrive in theRoyal Passage. Save at theMagla Hollow, and if you’re ready to get a move on, head north.

Palace Corridor

Moldilich

Weak toStrike. Repels all elemental attacks.Casts powerfulLightandDarkspells, and can lower everyone’s Defense simultaneously withVidyartha.

Ziocropos

Weak toWind.

At this point,Skybound Avatar becomes nonlinear-you have doors to your east and to your west that each contain full sections. They’re quite different zones, as you’ll see. Let’s start with the left door, leading west.

You should continue to battle theBlood Imitecsin their chests as you progress through the dungeon, not only to obtain the treasures, but since theyfrequently drop Heavenly Watersfor purification. In fact, you’re able to steal these from themas well.

Here in thePalace Corridor, a multitude of doors await you, situated across awinding hallwaythat can be more than a bit disorienting. At first, it will look like your worst nightmare.

Thankfully, there’s a key to understanding the Palace Corridor that will make the whole affair quite manageable:think counterintuitively. You’re going to bump into some moments of frustration, but the general rule is toalways try going in the directionoppositeof where you intend.

In doing so, you’re broadly a good deal likelier to get where you’re going, no matter how silly it feels.

Sub-Boss: Leogrophon

Leogrophon

Weak toPierce. ResistsFire, Ice,andLight. RepelsWind.UsesSoul Screamto gain four turn icons,Breath of Battleto dramatically increaseAttack and Defense. Wields attacks featuringFire, Ice, Electric, andWind.

Banquet Hall

And now for something completely different: theBanquet Hall. If you can see the screenshot above, you’ll know just howsmall this place is. Indeed, rather than being a sprawling maze like the prior sections, it’s asingle large room with two upstairs wings.

The twist is thatas soon as you’ve entered the Banquet Hall, you’re given five minutesto locate and destroy five Magla Flowers. You’ll find them in the following locations:

Since you ought to be able todispatch every enemy the Magla Flowers send out with overworld combat, you don’t need to worry about real battles. Just take care not to underestimate the range that some of these skeletons can attack from.

That’s truly all there is to it until the sub-boss;if you’re feeling the time crunch, refrain from taking detours for all the blue items until after you have finished the task of destroying every Magla Flower.

Sub-Boss: Gupdetron

Gupdetron

Weak toPierceandIce. RepelsFire, and usesBreath of Battlefor the usualAttack and Defenseboosts. Uses severephysical and Fireattacks.

Like the other Skybound Avatar sub-bosses, Gupdetron’s a bit of a joke. With a party that can seize the advantage on itsdual weaknesses to Pierce and Ice, you should have great troublereducing its health by one-third or even a bit over halfbefore it gets its own turn.

Corridor - Ruins

After the Banquet Hall - or after the Palace Corridor, if you did things in reverse - you’ll be sentup an unsealed staircaseand through another door in theRoyal Passage. AnotherMagla Hollowis here for your enjoyment.

When you enter Skybound Avatar’s last zone,Corridor - Ruins, it’s just astraight passage forwarduntil a cutscene occurs. Following the cutscene,Zorbaappears, and the showdown with Louis' chief lackey begins.
