The Androids have been a staple of Dragon Ball Z since the Cell Saga, and they continue to be fan-favorite characters thanks to their unique abilities and powerful fighting styles. InDragon Ball: Sparking Zero, the Android characters come with their own distinct mechanics, specifically the iconic passive ki recharge feature.
Playing as the Androids can be a blessing or a curse, depending on the matchup and how used you are to them. Since they don’t need to recharge ki, you can be relentless in your assault, but if you’re used to charging ki, you might end up wasting precious time.
8Dr. Gero
Limited Ki, Limited Options
Dr. Gero, the scientist behind many of the Androids, enters the fray in Sparking Zero, but he comes with a major drawback — his ki doesn’t passively charge past two bars. This severely limits his ability to unleash powerful energy-based attacks, making him one of the weakest Androids in the game.
While he can absorb energy from opponents, this mechanic is difficult to rely on in high-paced battles. If you still want to try this old timer, you’ll need to rely on grabs to get the energy you need. And be sure to land the ultimate so you recover at least a bit of health.
7Android 19
Slightly Forgettable
Android 19 shares Dr. Gero’s ability to absorb energy, but this gimmick doesn’t make up for his overall lack of power. This energy absorption can be useful in specific situations, but it’s hard to execute consistently, and his melee attacks don’t pack the same punch as the more advanced Androids.
His skills are far too similar to those of Dr. Gero, being able to rise above the scientist solely because his energy regeneration works as it should. When people think about the Androids, they often forget that there was one numbered at 19, and for good reason.
6Android 17 (Super)
A Tournament Winner
Android 17 from Dragon Ball Super brings impressive offensive abilities, buthis ultimate attackcomes with a major drawback — it deals damage to himself as well as the enemy. While his moveset is strong, and he has great energy attacks, this self-inflicted damage makes him risky to use in longer battles.
Beyond that, he is a solid pick, with his signature Android Barrier letting him avoid most direct damage. But there are characters very similar to him in this list, with all of his strengths and none of the drawbacks.
5Android 16
For The Birds
Android 16 is a fan-favorite for his combination of brutal power and love of nature. In Sparking Zero, Android 16 excels in close combat, using his mechanical strength to overwhelm opponents with powerful melee attacks and multiple throws, something that helps him be on top ofall the Gokus he needs to hunt.
His hands double as projectiles, as well as having cannons he can use when said hands are removed. His ultimate attack, much like the previous entry, is a self-destruction one, hence why he lands in a similar spot on this list even though he is such a beloved character.
4Fusion Android 13
From Trucker To Nightmare
Fusion Android 13, the result of Android 13 absorbing components from his fallen comrades, is a powerful but somewhat limited character in Sparking Zero. His brute strength and energy attacks make him a dangerous opponent, but his slower movement and larger size can leave him vulnerable in battle.
His ultimate attack is a powerful one, with one of the most brutal animations when it comes to rush attacks, but it is very hard to connect. It is one of the few attacks that works as a grab, meaning that you need to stay right next to your opponent whenever you plan on releasing your ultimate move.
3Dr. Wheelo
A Mechanical Giant
Dr. Wheelo, a giant mechanical robot from the Dragon Ball Z: The World’s Strongest movie, may seem like an odd inclusion on this list, but his passive ki recharge mechanic earns him a spot among the Androids. While he lacks the agility and finesse of characters like Android 17 and 18, Dr. Wheelo’s sheer size and power make him a tough opponent to bring down.
Anilaza, a gigantic robot from the Super era, is also in the game, but since he lacks the passive ki mechanic, we’ve left him out of this list.
His energy attacks are slow but highly damaging, and his ability to passively recharge ki gives him an advantage in longer battles. Though he’s a bit straightforward, Dr. Wheelo’s mechanics make him a fun and formidable option for players who enjoy slower, more tactical characters.
2Android 17 (Z)
Part Of The Future Terror
Android 17 from the Z era is a highly effective fighter in Sparking Zero, boasting a perfect balance of speed, agility, and defensive abilities. His passive ki recharge mechanic allows him to maintain pressure on his opponents, and his combination of quick melee strikes and energy blasts makes him a versatile character.
There is little separating him from Android 18, but we did have to draw the line somewhere. In the end, we looked at his ultimate attack, and while it depicts a highly iconic scene fromthe fight with Future Gohan, it also relies too heavily on his sister without giving 17 enough time to shine.
1Android 18
The Siblings’ Better Half
Taking the top spot is Android 18, the most well-rounded and powerful Android in Sparking Zero. With a mix of strong melee attacks, precision energy blasts, and passive ki recharge, Android 18 can dominate opponents with ease.
While this is technically the same 18 from both the Z and the Super era, her moveset is mostly referencing her evil alter ego from the Trunks timeline. She has everything that makes an android powerful, as well as a skill to instantly reach full energy, letting her circumvent the weakness of not being able to charge up on her own.
