After completing the first Phase of the Space Elevator project inSatisfactory, you will unlock Tiers 3 and 4, both of which unlock Milestones with features essential for factory expansion and additional Space Elevator parts delivery.

While Tiers 3 and 4 are unlocked at the same time, Tier 4 Milestones require materials unlocked in Tier 3, so it’s better to do these in order. Below, we’ll take a look at every Tier 4 Milestone, how to complete them, and some tips for progressing through this Tier.

Tier 4 Milestones

Tier 4 Milestones unlock expanded factory infrastructure, blueprints, and Automated Wiring for the Space Elevator. All of these Milestones use some form of Steel, so you’ll need to complete at least theTier 3 Milestone Basic Steel Productionfirst.

Here are each of the Tier 4 Milestones and how to complete them.

Build Gun Upgrade: Blueprints

Blueprint Designer Mk.1

Blueprints are an extremely handy feature to have when building large-scale factories. To use them, first create the Blueprint area by spending 15 Modular Frame, 25 Cable, 100 Concrete, and 100 Steel Beam. This will place a32m x 32m x 32m cubethat you can build in. When you’re done building, you can thensave the pattern inside the Blueprintto be reused elsewhere.

This is very helpful when making repeated sections of a factory like Smelter, Constructor, and Assembler chains.

Conveyor Lift Mk.3

Stackable Pipeline Support

The Logistics Mk.3 Milestone unlocks the third speed of Conveyor Belt, capable of transporting up to270 items per minute. This is essential for when you unlockMiner Mk.2, which on pure nodes will produce240 items per minute, which is too many for Mk.2 Belts to handle.

TheIndustrial Storage Containeris also very helpful for storing large amounts of items, likeConcreteandIron Platesfor making Foundations orSteel Beamsfor your Mk.3 Belts.

Motor

Automated Wiring

Advanced Steel Production unlocks themost important building of this tier, the Miner Mk.2. This Miner istwice as fast as the Miner Mk.1, allowing you to produce twice as many materials as the base model. This will let you stretch your resource nodes even further and essentiallydouble the size of your original factory.

Encased Industrial Beams, Stators, and Motors are all important materials that are used for buildings later on, so it’s good tostart stocking up on them now. Automated Wiring is thethird component for Phase 2 of the Space Elevator, so it’s also a good idea to start thinking about how to produce the 100 necessary to complete this Phase.

Power Tower

Power Tower Platform

The Expanded Power Infrastructure lets you buildPower Towers. These work similarly to Power Poles, but they let youspan a much greater distance between buildings, which is great for connecting your power grid between multiple, far-apart locations.

Another use for the Power Towers is that they can beused with the Ziplineto get around much faster than with standard Power Poles due to theincreased distance between Towers. Building Power Towers on slopes can also let you move much faster between them, facilitating quicker travel between locations.

Hypertube Support

Stackable Hypertube Support

Hypertubes provideone of the fastest forms of travel, but they need to be set up beforehand. Creating a Hypertube network connecting your various factories will let you get around much faster, but they aren’t that useful for exploring new areas; the Tractor or Explorer will be better for that.

Goals And Tips For Tier 4

Your first goal in Tier 4 is to complete theAdvanced Steel ProductionMilestone andunlock the Miner Mk.2. Then, you should go around to all of your current nodes andreplace them with Miner Mk.2s, which will give you much more freedom for designing and expanding your factory.

With the additional iron supply, you’re able to start making smaller factories that produce iron-only parts likeModular Frames,Reinforced Iron Plates, andRotorswith ease.

Keep in mind that the more machines you add to your factory, themore power you’ll need to provide them. If you haven’t done so already, now would be a good time to make acoal power generatorto supply your factory. If you’ve already set one up, it may also be a good idea toexpand it to fit future power requirements.

You’ll also want to start making automation lines for the three components of Phase 2 of the Space Elevator:1,000 Smart Plating, 1,000 Versatile Framework, and 100 Automated Wiring. You can use yourSmart Plating factory from Phase 1and let it slowly trickle in while you build factories for Versatile Framework and Automated Wiring.

You’ll need a lot of steel for this Phase, and into the future, so setting up various factories producing steel wherever there’s coal is a good idea. These will serve you well into the future and can be expanded in the future.
