How Do You Unlock New Game Plus?

This is a nice and simple process. Just like the original game and many other games released in the last few years,New Game Plus is unlocked after you beat the game once. The ending you get, whether you played on easy, normal or hard for puzzles and combat, or anything else has no effect. As soon as you finish the game for the first time, you will unlock New Game Plus.

After the credits finish, you’ll be treated to abrand new main menuas well - James and Mary’s hotel room in Lakeview. Ominous. Starting New Game Plus is a simple process. Once you press on New Game, the option to play it as New Game Plus or a regular new game is offered to you.Any New Game Plus save file is markedwith those words in the corner of the save file thumbnail.

In the original game,New Game Plus was signified by the New Game button turning yellow. You did not explicitly choose to enter New Game Plus.

What Changes In New Game Plus?

When you get the prompt to tell you that you unlocked New Game Plus, it gives you a quick rundown of what changes.New filters, new items, new endings, and so on. This is pretty much it, though the game is suitably vague on what you actually get.

In short, you gainaccess to all 10 filtersthough these can be used in any save file, not just a New Game Plus run.

When you hit your stats screen at the end of your initial run, you might have also noted that there areeight endings total. While only three of these are achievable in your original run,all eight can be attained in New Game Plus. These require additional items to unlock which can only be found in a New Game Plus file.

There is also a single new weapon, one that is just silly -the Chainsaw. It’s found on the way towards the town by Silent Hill Ranch. It is absurdly powerful, defeating the majority of enemies with a single assault from its ripping teeth.

you’re able to also find a series of books in the Eastern section of South Vale that hint towards many of the other endings you can achieve. You can find hints towards six of the endings from the original game, while the two newly added endings are up to you to discover for yourself. The majority of these books can be found in the bookshop in South Vale, while the rest are found in other shops.

What Carries Over Into New Game Plus?

This is the big question, right? With a game where items are so important, you can imagine that some items might be a bit more complicated when it comes to beingcarried over into New Game Plus. Well Silent Hill 2 takes all of the confusion out of the transferal process. Why?

Because nothing carries over.

Yes, really. All of your healing items, weapons, ammo, memos, Strange Photos, Glimpses of the Past, everything. Not a single thing comes with youin a return to Silent Hill 2’s unsettling town. So why is that?

Progress is tracked account-wide in Silent Hill 2,not per save file. When choosing to start in New Game Plus, the game doesn’t actually ask you to pick a previously completed save file to import. While this does make it harder to have to start a new run all over again, it also means you can quickly and easily work towards multiple endings and just reload to have all of them tracked rather than starting a whole new game once again.

Keep in mind that Silent Hill 2 Remake on PS5 does not let you delete individual save files, so be certain with each save that you make. It’s permanent.
