Summary
Fallout 76has come a long way since release, becoming a fairly popular title among fans of the series thanks to continued efforts fromBethesdato improve and tweak things. We’ve had multiple expansions at this point, each one bringing a number of cool additions with them, andthey show no sign of slowing down either.
During thefirst ever Fallout Day broadcast, Bethesda took the opportunity to show off some of the features coming in future Fallout 76 updates, including the pets you’ll soon be able to add to your CAMPs. A pretty big portion of the show was dedicated to pets, as Bethesda revealed that pets will be coming in December, with cats and dogs added first. More pets were promised to come in future updates, and while specific animals weren’t mentioned, it was mentioned that not all of them will be furry.
Next, Bethesda revealed that a new “dungeon” experience is also being added in December called the Gleaming Depths, which has been designed to be a traditional MMO dungeon that is meant to offer players some high difficulty content. A lot of gameplay from the Gleaming Depths was shown off, including various missions and raids that teams can try to overcome. You’ll also have the Ultracite Terror to overcome, a giant snake that may be the biggest boss ever introduced in the Fallout universe.
You would also expect a tough as nails challenge like this to come with its own rewards, and Bethesda has definitely got players covered on that front. For braving the Gleaming Depths, you’ll be able to find and create four-star legendaries, a new tier of weapons and armor that will take your firepower to the next level. All you’ll need to do to craft your own is attach a four-star mod to a three-star weapon or armor piece, and you’ll be good to go.
Of course, there’s a lot of excitement around the ability to play as a Ghoul, which was announced earlier this year. Bethesda went into more detail about the update, including how the role will work in combat, as Ghoul players will have a “Feral Meter” that they’ll need to stay on top of. However, there are benefits to going a little feral, as the more feral you are, the more perks you’ll have.
Unfortunately, Bethesda didn’t give us confirmed dates for any of these updates, just that they’ll be coming in December, while the ability to play as a ghoul will be coming at some point in early 2025. Thankfully, that’s not too far away, so you’re probably better off prepping right now if you want to be strong enough to take on the Gleaming Depths.
