Summary
Xboxhas had a bit of a strained relationship withFinal Fantasyover the past few years, mostly down to a console exclusivity deal with PlayStation. If you were an Xbox fan, you simply just missed out on Final Fantasy games. However, it seems as though Square Enix has attempted to distance itself from PlayStation recently, followingthe disappointing sales of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Final Fantasy 16.
However, there have been rumblings aboutXbox getting a “whole slate” of Final Fantasy games, and the platform holder announced during Tokyo Game Show that the first six Final Fantasy games are finally coming to Xbox. They made us wait for it, but Xbox’s Sarah Bond took to the stage to talk about Xbox’s blossoming partnership with Square Enix, and announce that Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster is finally coming to Xbox.
Not only that, but Bond also revealed that the title is coming to the platform today, meaning you can go experience the history of the Final Fantasy series right now. Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster is a neat little collection of the first six Final Fantasy games, given a spit and polish, and made better with various quality of life features. This is also your reminder to go play Final Fantasy 5, the best game in the series.
Xbox Is Also Getting Two Mana Games
Final Fantasy wasn’t the only Square Enix series to get a bit of love from Xbox too, as Bond also announced that two games from the Mana series are also being made available on the platform today. The first is Trials of Mana, which launched in 2020 and is a full remake of the third game in the series, which was released in 1995.
The second Mana game coming to Xbox is Legend of Mana, which is the fourth game in the series that was released in 1999. While it hasn’t been remade like Trials, it has been given a new coat of paint with some remastered graphics, similar to Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster. If you’re still a bit wary of them, Xbox also announced that both games are now available via Xbox Game Pass, so you might as well give them a go, right?
