Diablo 4has added new skills, passives, and Aspects with its Vessel of Hatred expansion. While most players are playing the Spiritborn class, older classes like Sorcerer haven’t been left in the dust. Some new additions have made the Sorcerer a fantastic beginner class for new or returning Diablo players, notably Firewall builds.

Firewall has received many buffs since launch, and it is now one of the highest damage skills in the game. Through some basic passive nodes and skill combos, you may burn everything you come across into ashes. In this guide, we go over how to best min-max Firewall while leveilng, covering everything from the skill tree to recommended equipment.

Diablo 4 Sorcerer Using Incinerate Skill

The Firewall Sorcerer is arguably one of the strongest leveling builds in Diablo 4. As the name implies, you’ll be primarily casting theFirewallspell to inflict a massive damage-over-time burn on enemy targets. You can further ramp up this damage with the Combustion key passive and other sources of burn, utilizing skills such as Hydra, Familiar, and Incinerate.

You effectivelyset the world on fireand become unkillable in the process through passives like Warmth. It doesn’t require much gear to get going, has excellent damage output while leveling, and can handle earlier Torment difficulties for endgame farming and pinnacle boss fights. With some small tweaks, you can even push this build into Torment 4 territory, although you’ll be leveraging other skills and Uniques at that stage; it won’t really be Firewall build at that point.

How To Play This Build

For most fights, you’ll want tospawn yourHydraminions first before throwing down as manyFirewallsas possible. The more fire you may conjure, the better. This is enough to kill most enemies outright, but if anything survives, you can cast Familiar orIncinerateto ramp up your damage.

When you’re fighting Elites or bosses, you should also be castingFire Boltevery five seconds. This debuffs the target, causing them to take a whopping 20% more burn damage from all sources. This includes Firewall. UseTeleportfor whenever you get stunned or need to quickly reposition. If you don’t like Teleport, feel free to runFlame ShieldorIce Armorinstead for more EHP.

Incinerate

Fire Bolt

It should come as no surprise that we’re usingFirewallin this Firewall build, but there are some other important skills worth mentioning. Since we’re using theCombustionkey passive to ramp up Firewall’s burning damage, we run multiple skills that inflict burn.Hydracan inflict burn through its Summoned augment, andFire Boltgives a massive 20% more multiplier to all burn DoTs through its Glinting upgrade.

For other sources of burn, we resort to usingIncinerateand Familiar. Incinerate has some powerful Aspects that unleash triple beams and accelerate a target’s burn DoT. Familiar’s fire variant will also burn nearby targets when upgraded, making it a solid primer for Flamewall. We wrap up the build withTeleportfor a quick movement skill and Unstoppable source.

Diablo 4 Firewall Paragon Tree

Enchantments

This build usesFireballandFamiliaras enchantment. Fireball will cause all slain targets to explode, greatly boosting the build’s clearspeed. Familiar has a chance to proc whenever you cast Hydra, making it easier to ramp up stacks of Conjuration Mastery.

Familiar can be replaced with Flamewall, Hydra, or Incinerate enchants if you prefer.

Paragon Board

Since this is a leveling build above all else, we don’t have a min-maxed Paragon board to recommend for this build. By the time you reach Paragon 200+, you should have strong enough gear to transition into another build or a stronger fire-based skill.

That being said, you can absolutely squeeze out some bonus damage through Paragon in the earlier Torment stages.Searing Heatgives you a 60% buff to direct hits once you scale some fire damage, which is easy to do through Paragon clusters and item tempering.Burning Instinctshould also be taken to scale your burning damage once you have some Intelligence and critical damage stats on your gear.

Past this point, we recommend you focus on unlocking Glyph sockets and leveling themthrough The Pit. Glyphs are where most of your damage comes from in endgame, so don’t neglect them.

You don’t need all the listed gear above to play this build. All you really need isStarlighton your ring. This restores Mana as you heal your character. SinceWarmthgives you a copious amount of HP for burning targets, you’ll be triggering Starlight every second. In other words, you now have infinite Mana.

As for your DPS, anything that buffs burning is going to excel here.Conflagration, Serpentine, and Engulfing Flamesare all massive damage boosts to your skills. We also recommendplacing Flamethrowers in a two-handed staff. This causes it to fire three beams that dealmoredamage than the base skill, effectively tripling its damage.

Items for this build are mostly down to what you find. For tempers, you’ll wantfire damage, Hydra heads or Firewall damage, and Pyromancy attack speed.Items that can roll with generic damage or damage-over-time affixes are also incredibly useful here. Beyond that, aim for your usual chase affixes—maximum HP, attack speed, flat armor, Mana regeneration, and movement speed.
