Nguyen adds that he doesn’t “support crypto”. This is in reference to the fact that the boss of the company behind the re-release, Flappy Bird Founation, is also the head of the crypto firm 1208 Productions.

Dong Nguyen Distances Himself From The New Flappy Bird Release

This is Nguyen’s first Twitter post since 2017, as the developer seems eager to distance himself from this new version of Flappy Bird. This is unsurprising, as Nguyen himself made the decision to delist Flappy Bird back in 2014, after he became disillusioned with the game and its sudden success.

Since being taken down in February 2014, it’s been impossible to download Flappy Bird on mobile devices, even if you had owned it previously. The only way to legitimately play the game is to have already had it installed on your phone before the removal. Or, you could just play one of the many clones that sprung up at the time

The new version of Flappy Bird will feature the same gameplay loop as before, alongside new game modes. According tothe website, this will include versus and easy modes. However, given the studio head’slinksto crypto and Web3 technology, many fear that it will be used as a platform for those pursuits, rather than a genuine re-release of the mobile game.

In any case, this new Flappy Bird is set to come toiOSandAndroidsometime next year.
